El presente proyecto está abocado a presentar una forma gráfica y automatizada para la entrega de información, la cual resulta práctica para la administración de los datos que se manejan en un cementerio, ya que no sólo tiene los atributos necesarios para la gestión de la información (aquellos campos que resultan útil para la base de datos), sino que además muestra la ubicación espacial, de cada sepultura en forma gráfica con sus correspondientes datos alfanuméricos, entregando una mejor comprensión al usuario. El sistema de información que se implementa cumple la función de entregar información exacta, a los usuarios y de fácil manejo para la persona que administra los datos. El trabajo se basa en la digitalización de una imagen aérea, resultando un plano digital con las sepulturas "bajo tierra", del Cementerio General de Los Ángeles y la base de datos, en donde se almacenan los registros existentes de forma ordenada y manteniendo aquellos que se les entrega mayor prioridad, de acuerdo a los funcionarios que trabajan en el cementerio. En el capítulo uno se plantea las generalidades del proyecto, se define el problema y los objetivos que se van a cumplir en el desarrollo del trabajo. En el capítulo dos se analiza todos aquellos aspectos teóricos que son utilizados para la fundamentación del proyecto, poniendo principal atención a lo que son los SIG, como funcionan y su importancia, el trabajo con la fotogrametría para elaborar el diseño del Cementerio General y el método de georreferenciación, en este caso el con GPS, a través de levantamiento diferencial estático. En el capítulo tres se expone el desarrollo del proyecto, con el proceso de recorte de la imagen, levantamiento de los puntos de control, la rectificación polinomial, la digitalización, la creación de la base de datos y la implementación del sistema de información geográfico para el Cementerio General.
