General To Specific Modelling written by Julia Campos and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2005 with Econometric models categories.

"This paper discusses the econometric methodology of general-to-specific modeling, in which the modeler simplifies an initially general model that adequately characterizes the empirical evidence within his or her theoretical framework. Central aspects of this approach include the theory of reduction, dynamic specification, model selection procedures, model selection criteria, model comparison, encompassing, computer automation, and empirical implementation. This paper thus reviews the theory of reduction, summarizes the approach of general-to-specific modeling, and discusses the econometrics of model selection, noting that general-to-specific modeling is the practical embodiment of reduction. This paper then summarizes fifty-seven articles key to the development of general-to-specific modeling"--Federal Reserve Board web site.

Energy Forecasting And Control Methods For Energy Storage Systems In Distribution Networks written by William Holderbaum and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2023-01-07 with Technology & Engineering categories.

This book describes the stochastic and predictive control modelling of electrical systems that can meet the challenge of forecasting energy requirements under volatile conditions. The global electrical grid is expected to face significant energy and environmental challenges such as greenhouse emissions and rising energy consumption due to the electrification of heating and transport. Today, the distribution network includes energy sources with volatile demand behaviour, and intermittent renewable generation. This has made it increasingly important to understand low voltage demand behaviour and requirements for optimal energy management systems to increase energy savings, reduce peak loads, and reduce gas emissions. Electrical load forecasting is a key tool for understanding and anticipating the highly stochastic behaviour of electricity demand, and for developing optimal energy management systems. Load forecasts, especially of the probabilistic variety, can support more informed planning and management decisions, which will be essential for future low carbon distribution networks. For storage devices, forecasts can optimise the appropriate state of control for the battery. There are limited books on load forecasts for low voltage distribution networks and even fewer demonstrations of how such forecasts can be integrated into the control of storage. This book presents material in load forecasting, control algorithms, and energy saving and provides practical guidance for practitioners using two real life examples: residential networks and cranes at a port terminal.

Supporting Real Time Decision Making written by Frada Burstein and has been published by Springer Science & Business Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2010-11-12 with Business & Economics categories.

This volume of Annals of Information Systems will acknowledge the twentieth anniversary of the founding of the International Society for Decision Support Systems (ISDSS) by documenting some of the current best practices in teaching and research and envisioning the next twenty years in the decision support systems field. The volume is intended to complement existing DSS literature by offering an outlet for thoughts and research particularly suited to the theme of describing the next twenty years in the area of decision support. Several subthemes are planned for the volume. One subtheme draws on the assessments of internationally known DSS researchers to evaluate where the field has been and what has been accomplished. A second subtheme of the volume will be describing the current best practices of DSS research and teaching efforts. A third subtheme will be an assessment by top DSS scholars on where the DSS discipline needs to focus in the future. The tone of this volume is one of enthusiasm for the potential contributions to come in the area of DSS; contributions that must incorporate an understanding of what has been accomplished in the past, build on the best practices of today, and be integrated into future decision making practices.

Structural Dynamic Systems Computational Techniques And Optimization written by Cornelius T. Leondes and has been published by CRC Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1999-03-22 with Mathematics categories.

Computational techniques for the analysis and design of structural dynamic systems using numerical methods have been the focus of an enormous amount of research for several decades. In general, the numerical methods utilized to solve these problems include two phases: (a) spatial discretization by either the finite element method (FEM) or the finite difference method (FDM), and (b) solution of systems of time dependent second-order ordinary differential equations. In addition, the significantly powerful advances in computer systems capabilities have put on the desks of structural systems designers enormous computing power either by means of increasingly effective computer workstations or else through PCs (personal computers), whose increasing power has succeeded in marginalizing the computational power differences between PCs and workstations in many cases. This volume is a comprehensive treatment of the issues involved in computational techniques in structural dynamic systems.

Written for a broad audience this book offers a comprehensive account of early warning systems for hydro meteorological disasters such as floods and storms, and for geological disasters such as earthquakes. One major theme is the increasingly important role in early warning systems played by the rapidly evolving fields of space and information technology. The authors, all experts in their respective fields, offer a comprehensive and in-depth insight into the current and future perspectives for early warning systems. The text is aimed at decision-makers in the political arena, scientists, engineers and those responsible for public communication and dissemination of warnings.
