Zunächst einmal wird theoretisch untersucht, wie die Computer- und Internetnutzung in der Familie aussehen und wie die Kinder dieses Medium für sich nutzen. Des Weiteren wird aufgezeigt, wie Kinder den PC allgemein verwenden und wie sie mit dem Internet umgehen. Zusätzlich dazu wird der Nutzen für das Kind in Augenschein genommen, welcher die Lernprogramme, Computer in der Schule und das Internet im Bezug auf das Lernen beinhaltet. Hier stehen besonders die Vorteile für Kinder durch dieses Medium im Mittelpunkt. Im nächsten Kapitel liegt das Hauptaugenmerkmal auf der Verwendung des PCs und des WWW und beschrieben, wie und was Kinder durch Spielen und Lernprogramme positiv nutzen und in sich verinnerlichen können. Hierbei werden sowohl die Vorteile als auch die Nachteile herausgearbeitet. Der letzte Teil dieser Hausarbeit behandelt das Thema der kindgerechten Internetseiten. Hierzu wurden zwei Praxisbeispiele gewählt, die bei Analysen besonders positiv aufgefallen sind, und anhand von Inhalt, Gestaltung, Zielgruppe und besonders Lern- und Wissensvermittlung untersucht werden. Diese sollen sowohl Anregung als auch Vorbild für andere kinderbezogene Internetauftritte sein.

The topic of adolescent development in Europe is one which has received little academic attention in recent years.
