Digital Transformation Of The Design Construction And Management Processes Of The Built Environment written by Bruno Daniotti and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2019-01-01 with Building categories.

This open access book focuses on the development of methods, interoperable and integrated ICT tools, and survey techniques for optimal management of the building process. The construction sector is facing an increasing demand for major innovations in terms of digital dematerialization and technologies such as the Internet of Things, big data, advanced manufacturing, robotics, 3D printing, blockchain technologies and artificial intelligence. The demand for simplification and transparency in information management and for the rationalization and optimization of very fragmented and splintered processes is a key driver for digitization. The book describes the contribution of the ABC Department of the Polytechnic University of Milan (Politecnico di Milano) to R&D activities regarding methods and ICT tools for the interoperable management of the different phases of the building process, including design, construction, and management. Informative case studies complement the theoretical discussion. The book will be of interest to all stakeholders in the building process - owners, designers, constructors, and faculty managers - as well as the research sector.

On Site Diagnostics For Architectural Conservation And Restoration written by Alessia Bianco and has been published by Anchor Academic Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-07 with Architecture categories.

The topic of on site diagnostics for historical, monumental and vernacular architecture is characterized by a twofold difficulty, partially due to a sort of hiatus between the scientific community and a professional system. In fact, on one side universities and research centres produce advanced technologies, methodologies and procedures, but they are not always adequately disseminated among professionals and are sometimes inconsistent with some relevant criteria, such as feasibility and cost-effectiveness. On the other side, professionals, in the field of on site diagnostics for historical architectures, are holding a heritage, made of experiences and practice, which often is not enough shared and sometimes is contrasting with the limited possibilities to evaluate and verify the professional training and certification system, which seems too heterogeneous, if compared to other high scientific and technical professions, as is the case, for example, in medicine or engineering. In this book, the diagnostic experiences are described, though, for logistical reasons, often briefly, following a systematic methodological approach, according to three of the main steps for the knowledge of historical buildings: anamnesis, diagnosis and prognosis, obviously with particular attention to the specifically diagnostic issues (diagnosis), but framed in the preliminary diagnostic plan and interpreted in the light of the performance, prefigured in the preliminary stages and connected to the visual inspection. That is why this book regards not only some experimental, unconventional and innovative diagnostic surveys and diagnostic experiences, carried out on particularly valuable monumental buildings under the historical-architectural point of view, but also ordinary and simple experiences in the field of professional diagnostic practice, where, however, it was possible to apply the methodology and the know-how, acquired and systematized in the performance of the experimental diagnostic surveys, often included in wider scientific research projects. This book is not exclusively addressing the scientific and academic community, but it also pursues the aim of disseminating in the professional system a heritage of rather varied experimental researches and practical experiences, but methodologically oriented toward a culture, which considers the design of diagnostic plans as a regulation criterion for quality control of professionals.

Advances in the knowledge of the tangible components (position, size, shape) and intangible components (identity, habits) of an historic building or site involves fundamental and complex tasks in any project related to the conservation of cultural heritage (CH). In recent years, new geotechnologies have proven their usefulness and added value to the field of cultural heritage (CH) in the tasks of recording, modeling, conserving, and visualizing. In addition, current developments in building information modeling (HBIM), allow integration and simulation of different sources of information, generating a digital twin of any complex CH construction. As a result, experts in the area have increased the number of available sensors and methodologies. However, the quick evolution of geospatial technologies makes it necessary to revise their use, integration, and application in CH. This process is difficult to adopt, due to the new options which are opened for the study, analysis, management, and valorization of CH. Therefore, the aim of the present Special Issue is to cover the latest relevant topics, trends, and best practices in geospatial technologies and processing methodologies for CH sites and scenarios as well as to introduce the new tendencies. This book originates from the Special Issue “Data Acquisition and Processing in Cultural Heritage”, focusing primarily on data and sensor integration for CH; documentation/restoration in CH; heritage 3D documentation and modeling of complex CH sites; drone inspections in CH; software development in CH; and augmented reality in CH. It is hoped that this book will provide the advice and guidance required for any CH professional, making the best possible use of these sensors and methods in CH.

Human Centered Built Environment Heritage Preservation written by Jeremy C. Wells and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-09-20 with Architecture categories.

Human-Centered Built Environment Heritage Preservation addresses the question of how a human-centred conservation approach can and should change practice. For the most part, there are few answers to this question because professionals in the heritage conservation field do not use social science research methodologies to manage cultural landscapes, assess historical significance and inform the treatment of building and landscape fabric. With few exceptions, only academic theorists have explored these topics while failing to offer specific, usable guidance on how the social sciences can actually be used by heritage professionals. In exploring the nature of a human-centred heritage conservation practice, we explicitly seek a middle ground between the academy and practice, theory and application, fabric and meanings, conventional and civil experts, and orthodox and heterodox ideas behind practice and research. We do this by positioning this book in a transdisciplinary space between these dichotomies as a way to give voice (and respect) to multiple perspectives without losing sight of our goal that heritage conservation practice should, fundamentally, benefit all people. We believe that this approach is essential for creating an emancipated built heritage conservation practice that must successfully engage very different ontological and epistemological perspectives.
