Norma agama bagai darah segar yang diinfuskan kepada penganutnya untuk melakukan perubahan sosial. Dari proses ini kemudian menghasilkan tatanan masyarakat yang berkeadilan dan bermartabat yang diidamkan setiap komunitas masyarakat. Inilah yang dimaksud dengan peran agama dalam proses transformasi sosial, yakni kontribusi agama dalam perubahan sosial ke arah yang lebih baik. Posisi agama dalam perubahan sosial cukup penting, karena agama mampu menjadi spirit dan ruh dalam melakukan gerakan perubahan. Pada konteks ini, buku dianggap cukup penting sebagai bahan kajian dalam studi gerakan sosial keagamaan di Indonesia.
