Inhaltsangabe:Einleitung: Im Spätherbst des vergangenen Jahres erreichte eine sportliche Schreckensmeldung aus der Leichtathletik alle Anhänger des sauberen Sports. Dieter Baumann, der Vorzeige-Athlet und Saubermann des Deutschen Leichtathletik-Verbandes (DLV) soll des Dopings bezichtigt werden. Mittlerweile, ein Jahr später, nachdem A- und B- Probe positiv getestet wurden, besteht erst einmal kein Zweifel mehr an dieser Tatsache. Viele Experten und Anhänger des sauberen Sports waren ratlos und entsetzt, unter ihnen auch Helmut Digel, Präsident des Deutschen Leichtathletik-Verbandes (DLV) und ein engster Freund von Dieter Baumann. Der Sport, der eigentlich eine Vorbildfunktion für die Jugend übernimmt, verliert durch den Doping-Fall Baumann ein großes Stück von seiner Vorbildfunktion und Glaubwürdigkeit. Nach Ansicht des Präsidenten des Deutschen Leichtathletik-Verbandes (DLV), Helmut Digel, wackelt das Fundament des Sports wie bei einem Erdbeben. Aber warum überraschen uns Dopingmeldungen in den Medien überhaupt noch, wenn ein Sportler versucht, den Anschluss an die Weltspitze zu finden? Die vorliegende Diplomarbeit soll an die vergangene und noch bestehende Doping-Problematik erinnern und aufzeigen wie wirksam die Dopingbekämpfung wirklich ist. Gang der Untersuchung: Im zweiten Kapitel meiner Diplomarbeit wird ein umfassender allgemeiner Rückblick über die Geschichte des Dopings von der Antike bis zu den aktuellen Doping-Fällen im modernen Hochleistungssport gegeben. Wie entwickelte sich das Phänomen Doping im Sport? Welche Hintergründe müssen bei der Darstellung berücksichtigt werden? Wie gehen die Fachverbände mit der Doping-Problematik um? Im dritten Kapitel der Arbeit wird auf die Entwicklung der ersten Definitionen und Bestimmungen der einzelnen Verbände zur Bekämpfung des Phänomens Doping eingegangen. Was beinhalteten die ersten Doping-Regeln? Doping ist ein Begriff, der viele Assoziationen hervorruft. Die möglichen schweren gesundheitlichen Folgen für dopende Sportler sind über weite Bereiche schwer abzuschätzen. Wie sieht die Wirkungsweise dieser Medikamente aus? Welche Substanzen sind dabei besonders gefährlich für den Sportler? Tatsache ist, dass die Anzahl der Todesfälle im Sport auf eine stattliche Anzahl angewachsen ist.
