Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Geschichte Deutschlands - Nachkriegszeit, Kalter Krieg, Note: 2,0, Technische Universität Chemnitz, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Im Mai 1945 endete mit der Kapitulation des Deutschen Reiches der Zweite Weltkrieg in Europa. Durch die Niederlage des nationalsozialistischen Deutschlands und der damit verbundenen Nachkriegsordnung verschlechterte sich die Versorgung und somit die Situation der Menschen im Land. Aufgrund der verlorenen Gebiete im Osten und der schlechten Ernten von 1946 und 1947 waren Lebensmittel knapp geworden. Die zerstörten Industrieanlagen und die vom Krieg beeinträchtigte Infrastruktur machten die Versorgung des Landes fast unmöglich. Angesichts dieser Lage wurden durch die Alliierten Maßnahmen zum Wiederaufbau Deutschlands umgesetzt. Darüber hinaus wurde eine Umerziehungs- und Neuorientierungspolitik von den Besatzungsmächten, welche sämtliche staatliche Gewalt in Deutschland innehatten, verfolgt. Des Weiteren beabsichtigte man die Entmilitarisierung und die Zerschlagung der nationalsozialistischen Partei und deren Begleiterscheinungen. Durch die Entnazifizierung sollten ehemalige Nationalsozialisten aus öffentlichen Ämtern und wichtigen Positionen entfernt werden. Damit sollte die Grundlage für die Reorganisation eines demokratischen Staatsgebildes gelegt werden.vSomit stehen die Jahre 1945 – 1949 für eine Zeit der großen Umstrukturierung in Europa. Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg stand besonders Deutschland vor der Aufgabe die Kriegsjahre und die damit verbundenen Folgen aufzuarbeiten. Jedoch wurde diesevzu weiten Teilen nicht von den Deutschen selbst sondern von ihren Besatzern, den Siegermächten des Zweiten Weltkriegs, Großbritannien, Frankreich, USA und der Sowjetunion, ausgeübt.vVor allem die Politik der USA und die amerikanischen Einflüsse sollten das zukünftige Bild Deutschlands prägen.

Focusing on the post war reconstruction of the education systems in Japan and Germany under U.S. military occupation after World War II, this book offers a comparative historical investigation of education reform policies in these two war ravaged and ideologically compromised countries. While in Japan large-scale reforms were undertaken swiftly after the end of the war, the U.S. zone in Germany maintained most of the traditional aspects of the German education system. Why did Japan so readily accept ideas and values developed in the allied countries while Germany resisted? Masako Shibata explores this question, arguing that the role of the university and the pattern of elite formation, which can be traced back to the period of the formation of Meiji Japan and the Kaiserreich, created the conditions for differing reactions from educational leaders in each country; this had a decisive impact on the proposed reforms. By examining these reactions through a sociological, cultural, and historical frame, an explanation emerges.
