In the United States the Law of the Land is the U.S. Constitution. The Originalist viewpoint of the document is one that holds to its meaning at the time it was created. Over time, however, the original intent has been hijacked, twisted, and subverted by statist politicians, judges using case law as the basis for Constitutional Law, a progressive education system, and a media that is complicit in a real effort to render the Constitution meaningless in its original form. In a unique style of defense of originalism, Douglas V. Gibbs examines the myths that have emerged as a result of a leftist onslaught against this nation as it was founded, maintaining that the text of the Constitution should be adhered to in its original intent. The enforcers, and final arbiters, of the Constitution, however, is not the Supreme Court, but We The People. The author addresses the most common myths in a clear and instructive manner, while recognizing and responding to any possible objections.Does all federal law trump all State law? Are the three branches of government supposed to be co-equal? Can the courts legislate from the bench? How about executive orders? What was the true intent behind the Commerce Clause, and the General Welfare Clause? Is the separation of church and state in the Constitution? Where do our rights come from? Is the United States a democracy? What is the role of government regarding issues like social justice? What is the true definition of Natural Born Citizen? Is the Constitution a living document? What are implied powers, and are they constitutional? Does the President have to ask Congress before he can wage war? What would the founders think about Income Tax, and the Internal Revenue Service? Are the courts authorized to interpret the Constitution in the way they do?25 Myths of the United States Constitution is an important contribution to literature on originalism, and the perfect book for the average person to read to begin their journey in learning the Constitution. After reading this book, you will look at the Law of the Land, and the world of politics, with a renewed sense of confidence. Being informed, after all, is a large part of the duty we have as Americans in regards to our involvement as an effective electorate. And, being informed makes you less likely to be fooled by the crafty politiciansThe Constitution is only ink and paper if we don't defend it.

Benjamin Franklin's iconic words to Elizabeth Powel, upon leaving the Constitutional Convention, were, "A republic, ma'am, if you can keep it." The Constitution was written to stand the test of time, and to resist the fiery arrows of tyrants. The modern political atmosphere, however, leaves most Americans uneasy. Have we lost our republic? America's Constitution Authority, Douglas V. Gibbs, reminds us that while our republic has not been lost, we teeter on the edge of a treacherous cliff. While we have not passed the sign that reads, "the point of no return," we are close enough to it that we can read the small print on the bottom which says, "Made in China." How do we, as Americans, regain a foothold on our journey to restore the constitutional republic, and reestablish the principles and philosophies of the United States Constitution? We have failed to focus on our own core responsibilities as citizens, and we have been allowing the sovereignty and autonomy of the States to be neutralized and dismantled. A ruling class has established itself in the halls of government, diminishing the power of We the People, and growing the power of an emerging oligarchy in America. The rise of tyranny in America should instill in us a patriotic and revolutionary call to action. We the People need to have the courage to take on the establishment, and be informed enough to know how to do it. Without an informed populace carrying out their civic duty of keeping the republic, how can the Blessings of Liberty be handed down to the next generation? Have we been experiencing such a steady decline in freedom that we have forgotten what liberty truly is? How do we restore our constitutional republic, especially at this stage in the game? The Founding Fathers gave us a quiver full of remedies to combat tyranny. All we must do is apply them during our advocacy to keep the republic. It's not too late to save America. The opportunity to keep the republic exists, and if properly informed of the solutions available to us, we can make the necessary adjustments so as to place America back on the proper path of liberty. The only questions that remain are, "Do we have the willingness to educate ourselves regarding those solutions?," and "Do we have the discipline to carry out those remedies, once we learn what they are?"

The Political Economy Of Third World Intervention written by David N. Gibbs and has been published by University of Chicago Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1991-11 with History categories.

Interventionism—the manipulation of the internal politics of one country by another—has long been a feature of international relations. The practice shows no signs of abating, despite the recent collapse of Communism and the decline of the Cold War. In The Political Economy of Third World Intervention, David Gibbs explores the factors that motivate intervention, especially the influence of business interests. He challenges conventional views of international relations, eschewing both the popular "realist" view that the state is influenced by diverse national interests and the "dependency" approach that stresses conflicts between industrialized countries and the Third World. Instead, Gibbs proposes a new theoretical model of "business conflict" which stresses divisions between different business interests and shows how such divisions can influence foreign policy and interventionism. Moreover, he focuses on the conflicts among the core countries, highlighting friction among private interests within these countries. Drawing on U.S. government documents—including a wealth of newly declassified materials—he applies his new model to a detailed case study of the Congo Crisis of the 1960s. Gibbs demonstrates that the Crisis is more accurately characterized by competition among Western interests for access to the Congo's mineral wealth, than by Cold War competition, as has been previously argued. Offering a fresh perspective for understanding the roots of any international conflict, this remarkably accessible volume will be of special interest to students of international political economy, comparative politics, and business-government relations. "This book is an extremely important contribution to the study of international relations theory; Gibbs' treatment of the Congo case is superb. He effectively takes the "statists" to task and presents a compelling new way of analyzing external interventions in the Third World."—Michael G. Schatzberg, University of Wisconsin "David Gibbs makes an original and important contribution to our understanding of the influence of business interests in the making of U.S. foreign policy. His business conflict model provides a synthetic theoretical framework for the analysis of business-government relations, one which yields fresh insights, overcomes inconsistencies in other approaches, and opens new ground for important research. . . . [Gibbs] provides a sophisticated analysis of the conflicts within the U.S. business community and identifies the complex ways in which they interacted with agencies within the government to form U.S. foreign policy toward the Congo. . . . This is a well-crafted analysis of a critical case of U.S. postwar intervention which should be of general interest to scholars and others concerned with the domestic bases of foreign policy."—Thomas J. Biersteker, Director, School of International Relations, University of Southern California
