The world and all that is within heaven and earth were first brought into existence by the spoken Word of God. We can change our situations and circumstances when we speak God's Word in faith. One example of this is when the centurion spoke to Jesus in Matthew 8:8, saying, "LORD, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed." Throughout our life, we can see examples of God's spoken Word that brought forth life to our dead situations, healing to our sick bodies, and restoration in our broken relationships. Even during some of our hardest and most difficult times of hurt, pain, disappointments, and devastation, we as children of God can testify that there is evidence where God still used something from that pain to turn it around for our good and in our favor (Romans 8:28). In this book, God Is Speaking to You, I want readers to be open to hearing what the Spirit of the Lord is speaking to their hearts as it relates to their individual walk with God. God is always speaking to us in some way, and we want to be sensitive to recognize and know when it is the voice of God (John 10:4-5). When we spend quality time in His presence, there will be no doubt that we will be able to identify the difference between the voice of God and a stranger. 13

It all began when I finally desired quiet time in Gods presence. He, being my Lord and Savior, gave me a need to hear encouragement and guidance from him. Knowing that I belong to my God, Jesus died for my sins, and I am filled with his Spirit gave me peace and confidence, but I felt there was more I needed. I longed to hear from him. Was this really possible? How would I know it was him? I would enter my prayer time as usual, with quiet meditation, praise, and worship from my heart and lips. Id then pick up my prayer journal for personal prayers, petitions, and intercession for others. In my spirit, I would, at times, receive words of affirmation during my prayer time. Then when finished, I would be guided to pick up my pen and begin to write. I not only realized that God was giving me these words to write and encourage me with but also each one was always one page long. After almost a year, I began to transfer them to my computer. As I did, I was also given a title and a scripture to go with each one. All I knew was this ability was definitely God-given to me for his purpose. Soon I was realizing it wasnt all for me, I was prompted to share them on occasion with others. This began a list of folks who wanted to receive them on a regular basis. The list continued to grow, and God continued to encourage me through others to write more as he led me. What I thought was, God was speaking to me only; in reality, he is able to speak to others through a devotional, simple folk like me put down on paper. I pray they will bless and encourage all who read them, as they have been for me. May this book always be a reminder to us that God is speaking, are you listening?

God Talk written by Ruth A. Tucker and has been published by InterVarsity Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006-01-01 with Religion categories.

Does God speak? The answer seems clear. Books abound on the topic of hearing God's voice. And many believers testify to God's conversational guidance in their life: "God told me to help you." "I knew it was God speaking to me."Our culture reinforces the idea that speaking--constant speaking--is good and natural and essential. In those rare moments during a day when talking ceases or when we're alone, we quickly find some way to fill the void, whether turning on the television or radio, or calling someone on the phone. With others, and especially with God, we get the message: speaking is good, silence is bad.But still, Ruth Tucker is not afraid to ask the question, "Does God speak?" And her answer might surprise you. She urges caution in speaking about hearing God, pointing out that our privatized spirituality often sets those who hear God on a pedestal and leaves those who don't feeling spiritually inferior. Further, she shows how the expectation of conversation may too easily humanize God in our minds, causing us to approach God with the same attitude we have when we call a friend on the phone. And if God does speak, how can we be sure our own desires are not affecting our interpretation of God's voice?InGod TalkTucker offers us a new paradigm for viewing silence and prayer. Rather than feeling inferior when we don't hear God speak, she helps us lean more deeply on his silent, Spirit-inspired Word. By examining the Trinity, Tucker gives us a new glimpse of how God the Father spoke his words in the past, how Christ the Incarnate Word lived among us, and how the Holy Spirit speaks to us now through Scripture. Here is a probing, thought-provoking read on how our present, active, powerful God relates to us and how we, in turn, should relate to God.

As Christians we believe that God speaks -- that God has spoken to people down through the centuries and still speaks to us today. But just how does God speak to us? Has his speech changed over time? And how do we bhearb the voice of God? In this insightful book Ben Campbell Johnson explores the subject of divine speech, highlighting its importance to faith and leading Christian believers into the practice of listening for Godbs voice in daily life. Johnson first explores the biblical foundations of divine communication, tracing the ways that God has spoken to humankind from the calling of Abraham, to the appearance of Jesus, to the continuing work of the Spirit in the early church. He then gleans important lessons about Godbs language from a wide range of Christian figures throughout history -- Polycarp, Julian of Norwich, Teresa of Cvila, Henri Nouwen, and others. As this historical record shows, God communicates with us in a variety of ways. In exploring these different modes of bGodSpeech, b Johnson deftly guides readers into the practice of bintensive listening, b a way of posing issues to God and discerning his response. Numerous anecdotes illuminate Johnsonbs discussion, and each chapter ends with questions for reflection and discussion as well as suggestions for journaling. Johnson concludes the book by recounting a number of personal experiences that vividly illustrate the value of learning to listen to Godbs voice. At a time when many Christians hunger for a more personal, meaningful connection with God, this book shows readers how to discern divine language and forge a closer, richer relationship with bthe God who speaks.b
