Autism And The Church written by Kirby Laing Chair of New Testament Exegesis Grant Macaskill and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-03 with categories.

An estimated 76 million people worldwide are affected by autism--current figures suggest that 1 in 100 people live somewhere along the autism spectrum, though many remain undiagnosed. Frequently, autism occurs alongside other conditions, such as anxiety or depression. Yet despite autism's prevalence and impact, the church remains slow to adapt, with responses that are often poorly informed and irresponsible. In Autism and the Church Grant Macaskill provides a careful, attentive, and sustained analysis of the reality of autism within the church and how this should be approached theologically. Macaskill demonstrates that attempts to read the Bible with reference to autism are often deficient because they move too quickly from the study of particular texts to claims about the condition and how it should be viewed. This leads some Christians to see autism as something that should be healed or even exorcised. Macaskill instead invites readers to struggle with the biblical canon, in ways shaped by the traditions of the early church, to a process of interpretation that calls upon the church, following Christ's teaching, to cherish those who experience autism as part of the diverse gifting of Christ's body. Accordingly, he calls churches to consider the implications of autism in their congregations and to explore how best to accommodate the particular needs of persons with autism in public worship and pastoral care, while valuing their distinctive contribution. In short, Macaskill challenges the church to think biblically about autism. Autism and the Church teaches readers that those with autism belong to the church, demonstrating that, if responsibly read, the Bible provides a resource that enables the church to recognize the value of those with autism. Macaskill shows how the Bible can help both individuals and church bodies flourish, even as the church deals faithfully with the opportunities and challenges that come with understanding autism. He writes as a biblical scholar intimately familiar with the experience of autism, dealing honestly with the real difficulties that can accompany the condition, while challenging misconceptions.

Finding no books with Biblical references to help her face the challenges of raising a child with special needs, Kathy did intense research to bring back her hope. Listening to the many preachers on TBN and doing Bible studies, she studied Scriptures to help her understand God's plan for her child's life. Doctors and teachers offered no hope and told her to brace herself for the long, dark road she was now on. Raised in a Christian home and active in her local church, she knew in her heart that the God she serves is a God of mercy. Here are Scriptures to restore your hope, strengthen your faith and show you that God has a plan for your child's life. Scriptures to promise that God is listening to your every prayer, that He is watching the work and efforts being done on behalf of your children. Scriptures that will empower you to be strong and steadfast, reminding you that with God, nothing is impossible.

Jesus Josiah And Me written by Max Davis and has been published by Charisma Media this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-02-02 with Religion categories.

FROM BEST-SELLING AUTHOR AND AWARD-WINNING JOURNALIST MAX DAVIS You can know undeniably that Jesus is real and fully-present, even when your feelings and circumstances scream the opposite. Best-selling author and journalist Max Davis had his life turned upside down when he experienced a supernatural encounter with a nine-year-old, nonverbal, autistic boy named Josiah Cullen. This special boy, who lived in Minnesota, had prophetic visions and messages from God about Max, who lived in Louisiana, even though the two had never met or had any contact. These messages, which Josiah typed with one finger, were packed with amazing biblical insight and highly detailed specifics about Max’s life—details that Josiah could not possibly have known unless they were revealed to him by the Holy Spirit. As a skeptical journalist who pursues truth, Max gained undeniable evidence that God is real and knows us personally. Even more compelling is that the prophetic messages centered around Max’s personal prayer life. Just like in John 1:48 when Jesus let Nathanael know He saw him praying under the fig tree, through Josiah, God was letting Max know that He sees us when we pray too, even though circumstances often scream the opposite. Life can be brutal, and we tend to equate pain and struggle with the absence of God. Yet nothing could be further from the truth! Regardless of how things may appear, Jesus is real, alive, and fully present, and living in that awareness changes everything. In Jesus, Josiah, and Me, Max Davis shows you that it is possible to encounter the living Jesus in a richer and more tangible way—that you can cultivate an awareness of His reality and know your prayers are affecting outcomes. More than an amazing account of Max’s encounter with an autistic boy that sparks faith and hope, it’s a story that unveils the mystery of experiencing God’s presence and power like never before! This book will encourage your faith by showing you that you can encounter the living Jesus in a richer and more tangible way. It will unveil the mystery of experiencing God’s presence and power like never before.

Why I Am Catholic And You Should Be Too written by Brandon Vogt and has been published by Ave Maria Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2017-10-06 with Religion categories.

Winner of a 2018 Catholic Press Association Award: Popular Presentation of the Catholic Faith. (First Place). With atheism on the rise and millions tossing off religion, why would anyone consider the Catholic Church? Brandon Vogt, a bestselling author and the content director for Bishop Robert Barron’s Word on Fire Catholic Ministries, shares his passionate search for truth, a journey that culminated in the realization that Catholicism was right about a lot of things, maybe even everything. His persuasive case for the faith reveals a vision of Catholicism that has answers our world desperately needs and reminds those already in the Church what they love about it. A 2016 study by the Public Religion Research Institute found that 25 percent of adults (39 percent of young adults) describe themselves as unaffiliated with any religion. Millions of these so-called “nones” have fled organized religion and many more have rejected God altogether. Brandon Vogt was one of those nones. When he converted to Catholicism in college, he knew how confusing that decision was to many of his friends and family. But he also knew that the evidence he discovered pointed to one conclusion: Catholicism is true. To his delight, he discovered it was also exceedingly good and beautiful. Why I Am Catholic traces Vogt’s spiritual journey, making a refreshing, twenty-first century case for the faith and answering questions being asked by agnostics, nones, and atheists, the audience for his popular website, StrangeNotions.com, where Catholics and atheists dialogue. With references to Catholic thinkers such as G. K. Chesterton, Ven. Fulton Sheen, St. Teresa of Calcutta, and Bishop Robert Barron, Vogt draws together lines of evidence to help seekers discover why they should be Catholic as an alternative. Why I Am Catholic serves as a compelling reproposal of the Church for former Catholics, a persuasive argument for truth and beauty to those who have become jaded and disenchanted with religion, and at the same time offers practicing Catholics a much-needed dose of confidence and clarity to affirm their faith against an increasingly skeptical culture.

God Saved Me From Silence written by Seth McKinley and has been published by Xulon Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-09 with Body, Mind & Spirit categories.

My book is needed to bring hope to a population of people who have been banished from society and overlooked by the majority. I want to say that non-verbal autistics have a lot to say; we are just trapped in linguistic fog. Hopelessness abounds and panic is massive. Mislead people believe that we are mentally challenged but happy to say that I am not. The sole reason for this book is that I want people to see the possibilities of communication with non-verbal children is real. Happiness is possible. We are just like everyone else. I also want to show that there is a spiritual side to us, the non-verbal autistic. I have faith in God who accepts me just like I am. He is glorious and just. He personifies panoramic acceptance for those with disabilities, like me. Jesus is helpful to all that ask for help. Tears flow from him when worship abounds. He repays us with his passive love. I want to let people know that I am so thankful that Jesus died to save me from a hideous life. I want everyone to realize that people who are non-verbal talk in their minds and liberating their thoughts are difficult for most. Fogginess is abundant in our minds and it is hard to focus sometimes. It is stated that fear strangles a person's confidence; I say that the lack of a voice strangles your life. The book of a non-verbal teenager that praises God in his mind opens a door and brings awareness to the spiritual life of the non-verbal autistic. Toss your misconceptions of Autism out the window. We are here and we want to be heard! Seth McKinley

[Large print and fully illustrated] Iceland's history is told in the stories of its celebrated figures. From Viking explorers to Saga heroes, the voices that define Icelandic culture are well known. Yet one man in Iceland's past had difficulty finding the words to form his own voice and be known for who he really was: Thorlák Thórhallsson, declared by his people "The Patron Saint of Iceland" in 1198 and officially canonized by Pope John Paul II in 1984. Yet, despite these honors, few have ever heard Thorlák's complete and true story: A child prodigy treated as an adult by those around him, a sorrowful boy from a broken home, a scholar of the emerging theology of merciful love, an innovator in pastoral leadership, and a man who understood the fundamental need to love and be loved. Thorlák of Iceland is an opportunity at last to celebrate this quiet hero who embodies the spiritual heart of the Icelandic people, and to learn from his inspiring true story wisdom for our own age.
