Tectonic Setting and Gondwana Basin Architecture in the Indian Shield, Volume Four, is the newest book in the Problems and Solutions in Structural Geology and Tectonics series from Elsevier, and is a synthesized monograph on the tectonic settings of Gondwana basins of India. It is a unique book on a topic of national and international interest, especially given the economic importance of the region (coal reserves). The book is authored and edited by very experienced theoretical experts and explores and reconstructs unified stratigraphic research of the region, including the relative role of tension and lateral movement in basin formation. Basin formation is the driving force behind formation and break-up of supercontinents and the time frame of supercontinent cycles. Provides the latest data on the tectonic settings of Gondwana basins of India Explores the unified stratigraphic research of the region Authored and edited by experienced theoretical experts

This second edition of Atlas of Structural Geology features a broad and inclusive range of high-quality mesoscale and microscale full-color photographs, descriptions, and captions related to the deformation of rocks and geologic structures. It is a multicontributed, comprehensive reference that includes submissions from many of the world’s leading structural geologists, making it one of the most thorough and comprehensive references available to the geoscience community. All types of structures are featured, including those related to ductile and brittle shear zones, sigma and delta structures, mineral fish, duplexes and trapezoids, shear-related folds, and flanking structures in the mesoscale and microscale. This second edition features new and expanded coverage, including seismic-image interpretation, landslide deformations, flowing glacial structures, and more than 150 new full-color images to illustrate the geologic features. A stunning collection of the world’s most beautiful and arresting geologic structures, this book is the ideal resource to illustrate key concepts in geology. Presents more than 400 top-quality, full-color photographs contributed by the world’s most respected structural geologists Features a broad range of morphological variations of geologic structures, making it the most up-to-date and inclusive reference of its kind Aids researchers in developing mathematical and analogue models on the peculiarity and uniqueness of the world’s most iconic structures

Structure and Tectonics of the Indian Continental Crust and Its Adjoining Region: Deep Seismic Studies, Second Edition, collates essential data from seismic studies of Earth’s crust across India, offering an essential understanding of the tectonic development of the Indian subcontinent. Seismic studies have been carried out in various parts of India since 1972, recording crust-related seismic data for determination of velocity-depth configuration and determination of structural patterns. The book examines the details of these studies, including their synthesis and global applications. The book presents both background and applications in one cohesive volume for researchers and students of geophysics and geology. Presents all the information and metadata of the Indian continental crust and its neighbouring regions in a cohesive way Provides basic knowledge of the Indian subcontinent to support the discussion of seismic studies related to crustal structure Includes all new chapter covering global applications and synthesis of the findings and observations

Indian Shield: Precambrian Evolution and Phanerozoic Reconstitution highlights unique evolutionary trends covering a period of over 3,500 million years, from the oldest crust to the most recent geological activity of the Indian Subcontinent. The book discusses regional terrain geology in terms of the evolutionary history of the crust, describing how the Precambrian Shield evolved from a stable continental region to a tectonically unstable zone marked by frequent high-intensity earthquakes in a Plate-interior setting. It is a complete and readable account of the history of growth and evolution of the Indian Subcontinent, including Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan. The book is intended for graduate students, researchers, and teachers in the geosciences, especially geophysics, geomorphology and geology. The book also serves as an important resource for tectonics and petrology researchers, as well as those involved in exploration of mineral resources. Features comprehensive geological information on the evolution of the Indian Subcontinent, from the growth of early crust to the present day in a single volume Discusses different processes of post-Precambrian reconstitution of the Indian Shield that ultimately produced the present-day geomorphology as well as the tectonic character of the region Assesses the impacts and effects of the ongoing post-Himalayan tectonism on the Indian Subcontinent

Tectonics Of The Indian Subcontinent written by A.K. Jain and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2020-04-07 with Science categories.

This books documents the salient characters of the tectonic evolution of the Indian subcontinent. It showcases the well investigated subcontinent of Gondwana. The book is linked to an updated geological and tectonic map of this region on 1:12,000,000 in scale. The Indian subcontinent displays almost uninterrupted and unique the geological history since about Eo-Archean (~3800 Ma) to recent, with the development of many Proterozoic deformed and metamorphosed fold belts around Archean nuclei, and enormously thick undeformed platform deposits. After their stabilization during late Proterozoic, the subcontinent underwent Paleozoic rifting and deposition of coal-bearing thick sequences, followed by enormously-thick outpouring of Deccan volcanics as a consequence of huge mantle plume. The youngest event in its evolution is the Cenozoic Himalayan Orogenic Mountains, spanning the area between Nanga Parbat and Namcha Barwah; a part of which extends both in Pakistan and Myanmar.
