El Gran Diccionari 62 de la llengua catalana és una obra singular dins el panorama lexicogràfic català. En primer lloc perquè, pel nombre d’entrades que conté, se situa entre els diccionaris més complets respecte al patrimoni lèxic del català. En segon lloc perquè, a més de les definicions, sempre exposades de manera clara i rigorosa, les diferents accepcions de les entrades contenen molts exemples i locucions que ajuden a delimitar-ne l’ús. En tercer lloc perquè, en comtes de privilegiar les rareses de l’idioma i els termes obsolets, que no tenen cap incidènciaen la comunicació quotidiana, reuneix els termes més usuals i necessaris d’avui. I, finalment, perquè recull les principals variants dels diferents estàndards regionals de la llengua catalana, i això el fa especialment útil per als usuaris de tot el domini lingüístic. El diccionari va acompanyat d’un apèndix gramatical, sobre fonètica, ortografia i morfologia, tant en la flexió nominal com en la verbal. Lluís López del Castillo, director de la sèrie de diccionaris de la llengua promoguts per Edicions 62, ha publicat diversos assaigs lingüístics i nombroses obres destinades a l’ensenyament del català. És autor del Diccionari català bàsic (1996) i del Diccionari complementaria del català normatiu (1998) – publicats per Edicions 62 – i ha dirigit amb J.M. This is an innovative and distinctive comparative monograph about new word creation in the different varieties of Catalan. In eight chapters, it provides a panoramic analysis of the neologisms documented by the NEOXOC network. Each chapter is dedicated to the qualitative and quantitative analysis, as well as the comparative territorial analysis, of neologisms, differentiated by formation sources: suffixation, prefixation, neoclassical compounding, vernacular compounding and syntagmatic compounding, Spanish loanwords, English loanwords, truncation and semantic change. Two annexes contain the neologisms cited as well as a sample of the data collected by NEOXOC from a corpus during 2008-2010, thus establishing a link with previous studies carried out by the Observatori de Neologia.
