An illustrated autobiography of John Dobson with over 100 photographs. John Dobson left his home on the small farm in the North of England at the age of 14 to work understairs in London and then on to a career in the Royal Air Force. There are fascinating details about life in the countryside and farm life in the 1920s/30s as well as his time working as a hallboy "below stairs" in London. John then chronicles his R.A.F. experiences and travels throughout Africa during World War II and England postwar before taking the reader to Cyprus during the "troubles," or EOKA uprising and then to Singapore in the late 1960s. He continues with his life after the R.A.F. to retirement. He has included many vignettes from his life, some told with his laconic sense of humour but all revealing extremely interesting glimpses into a past that started before television, radio, computers, flush toilets, phones and jet aircraft. John's book also includes a chapter about his hobby of tatting with which he won many awards.

The gripping story of a rapid-fire period of change in aviation. The fourth volume in the Aviation Century series is the dramatic story of the worldshrinking developments in commercial aviation through the end of the twentieth century, in which airliners grew from frail biplanes to huge Jumbo jets. In the process, advanced air travel brought with it worldwide political, economic and social change. In 2004 commercial airlines carried an estimated 1.6 billion passengers. Each new generation of transport aircraft has brought greater reliability, economy and safety, and increased global commerce through technological advances. Each day millions of shipments now travel by air between continents via sophisticated air cargo and air express systems. Other chapters in Winds of Change examine: the wider world of aeronautics private aircraft (personal planes as well as ultralights, sailplanes, hang gliders and parasails) lighter-than-air flight (Zeppelins, blimps, hot-air balloons) rotary wings (helicopters and related craft) the challenges of research and development (from sketch pad to computers; designers, builders and test pilots).

Concorde written by Brian Trubshaw and has been published by Sutton Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2000 with Concorde (Jet transports) categories.

As chief test pilot for BAC in the 1960s, Brian Trubshaw was closely involved with the Anglo-French Concorde program and flew the supersonic aircraft on its maiden flight in 1969, remaining a key member of the test program after the aircraft entered airline service in 1967. This close association with Concorde affords him his unique position in offering the inside story of the aircraft, from the early days of its planning in the 1950s, through design and pre-flight testing, maiden flight and demonstrations, to certification and airline service. He also covers many other aspects of the program, from the cripplingly high development and construction costs to sales and post-delivery modification. The book reviews Concorde's 43-year service record with British Airways and Air France, along with the prospects for its continuation in airline service into the 21st century. The author also offers his views on the next generation of supersonic passenger transport aircraft.

Beyond Space And Time written by John L. Dobson and has been published by Temple Universal this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2004 with Religion categories.

So far as we know this is the first book to present the rock bottom connection between science and religion. And the interesting thing about it is that it is done from the basis of Einstein's equations of physics and geometry. For thousands of years we have been faced with the problem of understanding the relation between our physics and what underlies it. So far as we know this is the first time the solution has been in print. And it is simple and readable. We don't have two worlds one for the scientists and one for the mystics. There's only one of it. And if the mystics are right in their descriptions, and if the scientists are right in theirs, we need only a translator and a dictionary of both languages. Fortunately for us, John Dobson has lived and worked in both camps, and knows both languages, so he undertook the task of translating. But to succeed in joining the descriptions by the physicists and the mystics he had to start far below the scientist's descriptions and he got there through Einstein's 1905 equations, his physics and his geometry.

THE BEST RESOURCE A PILOT CAN HAVE TO UNDERSTAND HOW TO FLY IN ALL TYPES OF WEATHER How do you improve on the best guide for pilots to learn how to fly in all kinds of weather? The answer is the Fifth Edition of Weather Flying. Regarded as the bible of weather flying, this aviation classic not only continues to make complex weather concepts understandable for even the least experienced of flyers, but has now been updated to cover new advances in technology. At the same time, this respected text still retains many of its original insights from over four decades of publication, provided by renowned weather flying veteran Robert N. Buck. In a straightforward style, new author Robert O. Buck (son of the book's original author) delves into how computers, personal electronic devices, electronic flight instrument systems, and other technologies are changing the way general aviation pilots fly weather. He addresses the philosophy and discipline required to use these systems, what they are really telling us, and their task as supplement to good flying sense. The updated Fifth Edition also discusses how to handle changes in FSS weather briefing, including a look at new weather information products and airborne datalink weather information as they affect weather flying. This new edition features: Discussions of weather information--what it is, how to get it, and how to use it Explanations of various weather phenomena and how they affect a flight Updates on the new GPS and smart technology used in weather flying Changes in weather information and briefi ngs Descriptions of improved anti- and deicing systems Serious discussion of the pilot-electronics interface Now more than ever, having the Bucks' Weather Flying at the controls is the next best thing to having the authors with you in the cockpit.
