Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2007 im Fachbereich Soziologie - Individuum, Gruppe, Gesellschaft, Note: 1,3, Universität Passau (Lehrstuhl für Soziologie), Veranstaltung: PS Probleme der Modernisierung traditioneller Gesellschaften, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Gastarbeiter verlassen ihre Heimat, da die dort vorherrschenden wirtschaftlichen Verhältnisse keine oder nur unzureichende Möglichkeiten zur Existenzsicherung bieten. Sie schließen sich einem anderen kulturellen, sozialen und ökonomischen System temporär an und geben dabei nicht nur ihren angestammten Wohnort, sondern auch traditionelle Lebensweisen auf. Dieser Idealtypus eines Gastarbeiters lässt sich auch auf jene Griechen übertragen, die ab Anfang der 60er Jahre vor allem aus wirtschaftlichen Gründen ihr Land in Richtung Westeuropa verließen. Viele von ihnen suchten ihr Glück in der Bundesrepublik Deutschland , welche durch die Boomphase des Wirtschaftswunders auf ausländische Arbeitskräfte angewiesen war. Sosehr ihre Abwanderung auch von wirtschaftlichen Gesichtspunkten geprägt war, konnten die Griechen eine Konfrontation mit der fremden Gesellschaft doch nicht verhindern. Sie wurden zu einem dynamischen Element innerhalb der deutschen Gesellschaft und beschleunigten den sozialen Wandel erheblich. Die Erfahrungen im Gastland prägten aber auch ihre Denk- und Verhaltensweise nachdrücklich. Bei ihrer Rückkehr in die Heimat nahmen sie diesen neuen Hintergrund mit sich und brachten ihn mehr oder weniger stark in die griechische Gesellschaft ein. Unter soziologischen Gesichtspunkten erscheint es daher lohnenswert, den Einfluss der heimgekehrten Gastarbeiter auf die traditionale griechische Gesellschaft näher zu betrachten. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, einen Überblick über die Auswirkungen der griechischen Arbeitsmigration zu geben und abschließend zu erörtern, inwieweit die heimgekehrten Gastarbeiter als Träger des sozialen Wandels zu betrachten sind.
