Guía de los descarriados (o perplejos) se compone de los pequeños opúsculos que Rabí Moisés ben Maimón -Maimónides-, uno de los más destacados filósofos judíos (1135-1204), dirigió a su discípulo Ibn Aknin en respuesta a las dudas que éste albergaba sobre la religión y la vida del espíritu. El mensaje de su obra se centra en la búsqueda de la verdad y la exaltación de valores como la justicia y la razón. Asimismo, procura aclarar ciertas metáforas utilizadas por los profetas y que no deben tomarse al pie de la letra, es decir, en su sentido literal, pues las personas podrían descarriarse y confundirse, de ahí el título de Guía de Descarriados. Maimónides nos enseña a comprender el significado oculto que encierran los proverbios para descubrir la verdad y alcanzar la perfección y la paz del alma.
