Precognitive dreams; astral travelling; seeing, hearing and/or sensing dead people are but a few of the natural strange happenings some of us do not quite understand and in many cases do not wish to talk about. Perhaps it might be because we simply do not know enough about the phenomenon. Katie Halliwell hopes to help those who have had unusual experiences come to terms with what is real and what is not by sharing her own investigations, including errors and mistakes. Being isolated as a deaf child, she had no choice but to listen to the still quiet voice within and this brought about a lot of research. Eventually, after receiving numerous evidences of life after physical death, all doubt was definitely eliminated. Reading her story will give you a chance to look through the keyhole at a unique way of life giving comfort to the dying and hope for the bereaved and, as it is up to the individual to seek his or her own true meaning of life, whatever it may be, this book could help point towards the right direction.

'Touching the Next Horizon' explores the exceedingly rare gift of genuine physical mediumship through the UK medium Stewart Alexander which includes communications between the living and so-called dead, as reported by Katie Halliwell, a first-hand witness who has kept meticulous records. Detailing 20 years of the author's experiences with the 'Stewart Alexander Circle' it contains the best of her original trilogy and further interesting reports of trance and physical phenomena up to 2019. Katie includes the results of the tragic passing of a prominent circle member and the death of a much-loved friend of the circle and his 'return' to speak to a friend and later materialize to hold his wife's hand. Also in the book are fine detailed illustrations depicting physical phenomena in action, as Katie takes us into the séance room. The interesting account of the traditional Christmas tree séance which the Alexander Circle gave in 2006 is included with a report on the evident joy of the sitters as the Spirit children played with the toys provided. New information from the spirit team clarifies the different energy needed for the matter-thru-matter experiment and we read of new steps in developing transfiguration which brings us up to date. These are just some of the wonders within this new edition as it seeks to demonstrate and prove survival after death and how it is all made possible by the blending of the two worlds through the physical mediumship of Stewart Alexander.

Transformed States written by MARTIN. HALLIWELL and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-11-15 with Medical categories.

Transformed States offers a timely history of the politics, ethics, medical applications and cultural representations of the biotechnological revolution, from the Human Genome Project to the Covid-19 pandemic. In exploring the entanglements of mental and physical health in an age of biotechnology, it views the post-Cold War 1990s as the horizon for understanding the intersection of technoscience and culture in the early twenty-first century. The book draws on original research spanning the presidencies of George H. W. Bush and Joe Biden to show how the politics of science and technology shape the medical uses of biotechnology. Some of these technologies reveal fierce ideological conflicts in the arenas of cloning, reproduction, artificial intelligence, longevity, gender affirmation, vaccination and environmental health. Interweaving politics and culture, the book illustrates how these health issues are reflected in and challenged by literary and cinematic texts, from Oryx and Crake to Annihilation, and from Gattaca to Avatar. By assessing the complex relationship between federal politics and the biomedical industry, Transformed States develops an ecological approach to public health that moves beyond tensions between state governance and private enterprise. To that end, Martin Halliwell analyses thirty years that radically transformed American science, medicine, and policy, positioning biotechnology in dialogue with fears and fantasies about an emerging future in which health is ever more contested. Along with the two earlier books, Therapeutic Revolutions (2013) and Voices of Mental Health (2017), Transformed States is the final volume of a landmark cultural and intellectual history of mental health in the United States, journeying from the combat zones of World War II to the global emergency of Covid-19.

Frank Capra S Eastern Horizons written by Elizabeth Rawitsch and has been published by Bloomsbury Publishing this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10-16 with Performing Arts categories.

Frank Capra has long had a reputation as being the quintessential American director - the man who perfectly captured the identity and core values of the United States with a string of classic films in the 1930s and '40s, including It Happened One Night, Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and It's a Wonderful Life. However, as Elizabeth Rawitsch argues, Capra's construction of national identity did not occur within an exclusively national context. She points out that many of his films are actually set in, or include sequences set in, China, Latin America, the Philippines and the South Seas. Featuring in-depth textual analysis supported by original archival research, Frank Capra's Eastern Horizons explains that Capra's view of what constituted 'America' changed over time, extending its boundaries to embrace countries often far from the United States. Complicating Edward Said's theory of Orientalism as a strict binary in which the West constructs the East as an inferior 'other', it demonstrates that East and West often intermingle in films such as The Bitter Tea of General Yen and in Capra's orientation documentaries for World War II American servicemen; Capra imagined a kind of global community, albeit one with heavy undertones of British and American imperialism. Investigating shifts in what Capra's America has meant over time, both to Capra and to those who have watched and studied his films, this innovative book offers a startlingly fresh perspective on one of the most iconic figures in American film history.
