Es sei uns daher nur gestattet, kurz auf die verschiedenen Erklarungen einzugehen. Einerseits leitet man das Wort von "trocken, plattdeutsch ab. Auch das englische "drugs' (apothsksrwaaren) hat mit dem niedersachsischen "droeg so viele Klangahnlichkeit, dass die Annahme nicht unberechtigt erscheint, beide Worte hatten denselben Stamm. Drogist wurde also soviel bedeuten als "handler mit getrockneten Waaren Fur diese Annahme spricht B.
