Tüchtige Stenotypistinnen und gute Sekretärinnen fehlen in allen Betrieben. In Banken und Sparkassen ist der Mangel an geeigneten Fachkräften besonders spürbar, weil in diesen Betrieben ganz bestimmte Anforderungen an die Vor bildung zu stellen sind. Die vielen Fachausdrücke und Spezialbezeichnungen im Verkehr mit den Kunden und Korrespondenzbanken sind oft verwirrend. Hinzu kommt, daß in Bank-und Sparkassenbetrieben die Arbeit sehr schnell läuft. Die interessante und vielgestaltige Tätigkeit der Sekretärin im Bank- und Sparkassenwesen, die ihren eigenen Gesetzmäßigkeiten unterliegt, ist litera risch bisher noch weitgehend "unentdeckt" geblieben, obschon man viele beruf liche Tätigkeiten bis in alle Einzelheiten erforscht und aufgezeichnet hat. Was lag näher, als das bereits ausgereifte und auf die allgemeinen Belange der Sekretärin abgestellte Werk "Sekretärinnen-Handbuch" als Grundlage eines neuen Werkes zu benutzen, das sowohl bankberufliches Spezialwissen als auch das für die Sekretärin und Stenotypistin aller Wirtschaftszweige erforderliche Allgemeinwissen enthält. Ausschlaggebend für diese Kombination war der Gedanke, daß nur durch die Zusammenfassung dieser zwei an sich grundver schiedenen Teile in einem Werke dem Leser ein dauernder Nutzen erwächst. Bestimmte Teile der allgemeinen Sekretariatstechnik für die Industriebetriebe konnten für die Spezialauflage des vorliegenden Handbuches vollinhaltlich übernommen werden, weil die allgemeine Sekretariatstechnik in diesen Bran chen keine wesentlichen Unterschiede aufzuweisen hat. Das bezieht sich ins besondere auf folgende Kapitel: Einführung in die Sekretariatstechnik, Brief praktikum, Spezielle Arbeitstechnik der Sekretärin, Vorbereitung einer Reise, Das Aufgabengebiet der Sekretärin bei Konferenzen, Sekretärinnen - Frauen ohne Alter, Gesundheitspflege und Sport, Deutsch - richtig und schön, Brief muster für besondere Anlässe u. a.
