Additional mechanisms to reduce heat loading on the plates include intra-plate and interpolate duck-works containing cooling gaseous or liquid effluents, and/or including thermo-electric generating materials to convert thermal energy into electrical energy. Another cooling mechanism would include a carbonaceous oily residue which is sweated in batch mode or continuous mode out of the heat source facing side of a plate. The residue having a high heat of vaporization and heat of ionization would result in significant phase change cooling analogous to common water based evaporative cooling.
