The idea that our bodies can be physically healed through the exercise of spiritual gifts is controversial within the Church. Some believe that God "doesn't do miracles any more," as the so-called sign-gifts supposedly ceased in the apostolic era. Others, particularly the televangelists, manipulate people through shameful practices rooted in the love of money and fame. Hype abounds. In this book, Dr. Stephen Crosby presents a biblical, Christ-centered, reasonable, and redemptive alternative to either extreme. Understanding the Scripture's Semitic (non-Western) worldview of community, disease, sickness, and health, is key to the effective appropriation of physical healing. Dr. Crosby's incisive and candid analysis cuts through the popular culture hype, and presents a compassionate God who is, and will always be, our Healer.

Within the Christian community, nonsense and reprehensible corruption frequently accompany the practice of believing prayer for the physical healing of our bodies. For the love of money and the gain of reputation and fame, unscrupulous Christian ministers often slander the Lords name and abusively victimize those with genuine physical need. Dr. Stephen Crosby presents a biblical, Christ-centered, reasonable and redemptive alternative to the saturation of hype and manipulation in popular Christian media, thought, and ministry regarding the power of God to heal our bodies. About the Author: Dr. Crosby and his wife, Rita, were saved in the mid-1970s when the charismatic renewal swept through upstate New York, converting thousands of young hippies. Since then, the Crosbys lives and ministry have geographically spanned North America. They have pioneered and pastored local churches in the states and ministered in churches, seminars, and Bible schools in nations on four continents. They currently minister in a prophetic and apostolic dimension within the Body of Christ. Dr. Crosby is also an adjunct professor for Christian Life School of Theology and the author of seven books. The Crosbys have been married for thirty-four years and have three grown children and four grandchildren.

During the last two decades, stem cells have progressed from merely a concept to a vibrant field of regenerative medicine which is aimed at addressing the root cause of the problem rather than conventional methods of intervention that mostly provide symptomatic relief.Stem cell therapy either alone or in combination with the other established treatment strategies is a hope for patients who suffer from the 'incurable' diseases such as Alzheimer, diabetes, myocardial infarction etc. Besides aspirations in the clinical perspective, stem cells provide excellent in vitro disease models for drug development.Given the significance of the field, the proposed book will be a compilation of the bench experience of experts from various research labs involved in the cutting edge area of stem cell research.

Bioactive Glasses and Glass-Ceramics Fundamentals and Applications A Comprehensive and Critical Overview of Bioactive Glasses and Glass-Ceramics Bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics are a versatile class of biocompatible materials that have an astonishing impact in biomedicine. Bioactive Glasses and Glass-Ceramics: Fundamentals and Applications presents topics on the functional properties, processing, and applications of bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics. The primary use of bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics is to repair bone and dental defects; however, their full potential is yet to be fulfilled. Many of today’s achievements in regenerative medicine and soft tissue healing were unthinkable when research began. As a result, the research involving bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics is highly stimulating and continuously progresses across many different disciplines including chemistry, materials science, bioengineering, biology, and medicine. Topics relating to these disciplines and covered within the work include: Fundamentals on bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics, bioactive glasses in today’s market, and improvements and challenges for the future Scalability and other issues when taking bioactive glass from lab to industry/commercialization applications, plus clinical challenges Trending topics such as bioactive glass porous scaffolds, additive manufacturing of bioactive glasses, and nano-engineering of bioactive glasses The various bioactive glass compositions which have been developed as medical products in an expanding range of forms and applications Bioactive Glasses and Glass-Ceramics: Fundamentals and Applications serves as a comprehensive and complete reference work on bioactive glasses and glass-ceramics for research and development (R&D) materials scientists, surgeons, and physicians, and leadership at glass and medical companies. Students and professors in fields of study pertaining to the aforementioned disciplines will also derive value from the work.

Blotter written by Erik Davis and has been published by MIT Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2024-04-02 with Art categories.

A richly illustrated exploration of the history, art, and design of printed LSD blotter tabs. Blotter is the first comprehensive written account of the history, art, and design of LSD blotter paper, the iconic drug delivery device that will perhaps forever be linked to underground psychedelic culture and contemporary street art. Created in collaboration with Mark McCloud’s Institute of Illegal Images, the world’s largest archive of blotter art, Davis’s boldly illustrated exhibition treats his outsider subject with the serious, art-historical respect it deserves, while also staying true to the sense of play, irreverence, and adventure inherent in psychedelic exploration. Davis weaves together two main stories: first, the largely unknown history of blotter paper’s development in the 1960s and its later flowering in the 1970s and 1980s; and second, the story of how San Francisco artist, professor, and “freak” McCloud began collecting blotter and ultimately became embroiled with the LSD trade. The book closes with a unique discussion of the market for “vanity blotter”—more recent perforated papers produced as collectible art objects never meant to be dipped in LSD. While vanity blotters are intimately related to the underground blotters of the LSD trade, they effectively open up their own visual world. As the ultimate document of this ephemeral artform, Blotter represents an exceptional contribution to the scholarship of art and psychedelics that will entertain older readers with lysergic nostalgia and younger readers with its image-driven journey through a colorful and scandalous corner of psychedelic lore.
