This ebook is a series of texts, which were written in imitation of biblical books of prophecy, but expressing the poets own personal romantic and revolutionary beliefs. It is not exactly known when the work was written. One assumes it was composed in London between 1790 and 1793 , a period of political conflict arising immediately after the French Revolution. The book is about the first person narrators visit to Hell, a concept taken by Blake from Dantes Inferno and Miltons Paradise Lost. Apart from the opening Argument and the Song of Liberty, the entire book is written in prose. The Marriage of Heaven and Hell was influenced by the mysticism of Swedish theosophist Emanuel Swedenborg and is also in part a satire on Emanuel Swedenborgs writings, especially on Heaven and Hell from which Blake adapted the title. William Blake (1757 – 1827) was a British poet, painter, visionary mystic, and engraver, who illustrated and printed his own books. Blake proclaimed the supremacy of the imagination over the rationalism and materialism of the 18th-century. Largely unrecognised during his lifetime, Blake is now considered a seminal figure in the history of both the poetry and visual arts of the Romantic Age.

"Of the four principal works of Allan Kardec, the first The Spirits' Book, sets forth the Spiritist theory of life and destiny; the second The Mediums' Book, treats of experimental Spiritism, in other words, of Medianimity,1 under its various aspects and in reference to the conclusions to which it leads; the third (Heavenand Hell, which the translator has now the pleasure of offering to English readers,) gives a series of spirit-narratives confirmatory of the Spiritist theory; the fourth (Genesis, of which a translation will soon follow the present volume,) shows the consonance of this theory with the results of modern science."...

Differentiated book- It has a historical context with research of the time-The Marriage of Heaven and Hell by William Blake.William Blake (London, November 28, 1757 - ibidem, August 12, 1827) was a British poet, painter, and printmaker. Although largely unknown throughout his life, Blake's work is now highly regarded. Because of the relationship that poetry has in his work and their respective engravings, Blake is often used as an example of the "total artist". According to The Guardian newspaper, "William Blake is by far the greatest artist Britain has ever produced." Considering Blake's achievements in poetry or the visual arts separately would be detrimental to understanding the magnitude of his work: Blake viewed these two disciplines as two means of a unified spiritual effort, and they are inseparable in correctly appreciating his work. For this reason, illustrated editions of Blake's work had not been particularly valued in the past, until advances in printing techniques have allowed greater dissemination, as they became more accessible. Blake was born at 28 Broad Street, Golden Square, London, to a new middle-class family in 1757. His father was a knitter. They are believed to have belonged to a radical religious sect called Dissenters.

William Blake can rightly be described as one of the most important Romantic poets, but he is set apart from the likes of Wordsworth, Coleridge, Byron, Shelley and Keats by his mysticism and radical social and religious beliefs. Following in the tradition of poetic geniuses such as Dante and Milton, Blake's remarkable collection The Marriage of Heaven and Hell describes a descent into the netherworld. The Marriage of Heaven and Hell is a book by the English poet and printmaker William Blake. It is a series of texts written in imitation of biblical prophecy but expressing Blake's own intensely personal Romantic and revolutionary beliefs. The book is written in prose, except for the opening Argument and the Song of Liberty, and describes the poet's visit to Hell.

This TAN Books edition of “The Dogma of Hell ” by Rev. Fr. F. X. Schouppe, S.J., features the complete original text, along with a supplemental reading section entitled “What Will Hell Be Like?”. We’ve also included unique hand-selected classic artwork for the reader’s enjoyment, exclusive to this eBook edition of “The Dogma of Hell ”. The Dogma of Hell: The Dogma of Hell explores the basic Catholic doctrine on Hell, purposefully awakening in the reader a profound realization of its reality and eternity of horrors. Eminent French theologian Fr F X Schouppe, SJ, author of Purgatory Explained by the Lives and Legends of the Saints, has written here a similar but much smaller book. In short chapters, he has recounted numerous true stories, apparitions of the damned, and complete Catholic teaching on Hell. He clearly shows that for those who are not motivated to do good out of love of God, the fear of Hell is a legitimate and often salutary motive for avoiding sin. Although the subject matter is frightening, the ultimate purpose of this book is not to frighten souls, but to help them avoid damnation by reminding them of the pain and suffering in an eternity spent in the absence of God. What Will Hell Be Like?: Selections from St. Alphonsus' writings. Covers virtually every aspect of Hell. Shows it exists, describes its torments, proves it is eternal, demonstrates it is not unjust and answers a host of questions. Best short antidote for today's irreligion that we know.

We have arrived at the stage of life when we must realize that the hour-glass is rapidly running out, that the pendulum of life is coming to a stand-still, and that time will soon be no more. With death an eternity without end begins. Every year, on Ash Wednesday, the Church solemnly reminds us of these eternal truths. With the inauguration of the Lenten season, the priest places blessed ashes upon our forehead in the form of a cross, saying: “Memento homo quia pulvis es, et in pulverem reverteris.” Aeterna Press
