Biografien er blevet til i et tæt samarbejde med Mikael og Pusle Helmuth, der åbenhjertigt beretter om den far, de både elskede og havde det vanskeligt med på grund af deres tumultariske opvækst. Desuden har skuespillerne Ghita Nørby, Peter Schrøder og Thure Lindhardt samt instruktøren Kaspar Rostrup bidraget til bogen.
