About the Book The town is stricken with a plague, and no one knows why. With people asking questions, the only hospital in town is said to have the answer... or do they? In all this chaos, there stands a girl with a premonition to stop it all before it’s too late. The question depends on whether she will put an end to the madness or die trying. About the Author J.S. Williams is a Delawarean and a wife with two young children. She enjoys writing, drawing, and painting, and is also a jewelry designer. When she is not doing the things mentioned above, she writes music to play on the piano. She enjoys old-fashioned classical music. Williams is also a heavy video gamer and a game creator. She loves to cosplay with her family and goes to Comic Con events. Most of Williams’ writings are written in poems and then expanded into stories like this one. Her favorite spot to write is in a public park. She has expressed that she daydreams throughout the day, so she consistently carries a notebook to record her thoughts everywhere she goes.

This illustrated, first of its kind collection of excerpts from Eleanor Roosevelt's newspaper columns, radio talks, speeches, and correspondence speaks directly to the challenges we face today. Acclaimed for her roles in politics and diplomacy, first lady Eleanor Roosevelt was also a prolific author, journalist, lecturer, broadcaster, educator, and public personality. Using excerpts from her books, columns, articles, press conferences, speeches, radio talks, and correspondence, Eleanor Roosevelt: In Her Words tracks her contributions from the 1920s, when she entered journalism and public life; through the White House years, when she campaigned for racial justice, the labor movement, and "the forgotten woman;" to the postwar era, when she served at the United Nations and shaped the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Selections touch on Roosevelt's early entries in women's magazines ("Ten Rules for Success in Marriage"), her insights on women in politics ("Women Must Learn to Play the Game As Men Do"), her commentary on World War II ("What We Are Fighting For"), her work for civil rights ("The Four Equalities"), her clash with Soviet delegates at the UN ("These Same Old Stale Charges"), and her advice literature ("If You Ask Me"). Surprises include her unique preparation for leadership, the skill with which she defied critics and grasped authority, her competitive stance as a professional, and the force of her political messages to modern readers. Scorning the "America First" mindset, Eleanor Roosevelt underlined the interdependence of people and of nations. Eleanor Roosevelt: In Her Words illuminates her achievement as a champion of civil rights, human rights, and democratic ideals.

Her Wordscelebrates the return of the Great Goddess to the hearts and minds of women (and men) during the late twentieth century. The 140 poems chosen for this anthology span the ages, from the hymns to the goddess Inanna through biblical verses about Sophia and the works of the sixth century poet Sappho to the poetry of twentieth-century authors: Janine Canan, Lucille Clifton, May Sarton, Diane di Prima, Susan Griffin, Patricia Monaghan, Starhawk, Alma Luz Villanueva, and many others. To amplify the cyclical, circular time inherent in women's spirituality,Her Wordsintersperses the works of ancient and modern poets. This nonlinear arrangement highlights the powerful connections modern poets are making with ancient archetypes (Eve, Lilith, Demeter, Kali, and others), validating the natural seasons of women's lives as maidens, mothers, and crones.

Brilliance can come from education or in combination with life experience. With my grandmother, it came from neither. Her brilliance came from gumption. Throughout her life, she chose to explore the world through words. Whether it was the newspaper, a novel, or her daily crossword, she uncovered new meanings, almost religiously, in places, things, people, and ideas. Never far from her dictionary, she was always sharpening her skills, page by page, puzzle by puzzle. Because of her shy nature, it wasnt until later in her life that we came to discover her words of poetry. Although I knew her all my life, it was through her poems and her passion for them that I came to appreciate my mimis artistry. To me, she had always been a woman of few words. To my great misfortune, just when I started to get to know the woman behind the words, did she begin to lose them. Because of her dementia, the pathway to connecting with her became rocky. Obstructed by confusion, fear, and uncertainty, she slowly faded from us. After her death, we found the full records of her poetry, some of which we now lovingly share with the world. We hope you enjoy these few words that continue to help us get to know the poet we called grandmother, mom, and mimi.

Get inside the head of one of the most influential musicians of our time with this collection of her most inspiring and revealing quotes. The quotations in this book have been carefully curated from Taylor Swift’s numerous public statements—interviews, op-eds, social media posts, and more. It’s a comprehensive picture of her meteoric rise to the top, her ever-savvy business sense, and her increasingly forthright perspective on the music world and beyond. Swift’s catchy, chart-topping songs have propelled her to become one of the bestselling musicians of all time. But in the more than fifteen years she’s been making music, she has also amassed enough power to buck the norms of an industry notorious for controlling the images of its often very young female artists. She’s stood up for herself and for other artists, championing their rights to fair royalties, and inspired tens of thousands of fans to register to vote. Swift’s achievements have earned her spots on both Forbes’s Most Powerful Women and Time’s 100 Most Influential People lists. Now, for the first time, you can find her most inspirational, thought-provoking quotes in one place.
