The major purpose of research in the present study was to contribute to the clarification of physics-related learning conditions in the phase when students change from primary to secondary school stage. This purpose goes back to the divergent performance of German primary and secondary school students in the science part of international comparative studies which have placed teachers under considerable pressure to provide an effective working atmosphere in their classrooms including an appropriate use of time for engagement in physics-specific contents. There is a wide consensus that, in developing efficient classroom management strategies, teachers can guarantee a higher amount of academic learning time, which proves relevant not only for students' school performance, but also for fostering their motivation to learn (science). The present study firstly aimed at contributing to the demand of a theoretical conceptualization that regards classroom management in the overall structure of quality of instruction. Against this background, the study suggests a clear, detailed definition of classroom management with three subconstructs discipline, rules and rituals and prevention of disruption, but also addresses the desiderata in terms of subject-specific research on classroom management.

Praktikumsbericht / -arbeit aus dem Jahr 2006 im Fachbereich Pädagogik - Sonstiges, Note: 1,0, Freie Universität Berlin (Fachbereich Erziehungswissenschaft und Psychologie), Veranstaltung: Pädagogisches Handeln, Lernort Schule, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: [...] Anfänglich habe ich die von SCHULZ entwickelten Strukturmomente zur Planung und Analyse von Unterricht bei meinen Beobachtungen als Orientierung benutzt3, um Konstanten in der Faktorenvielfalt und Einmaligkeit eines jeden Unterrichtsgeschehens zu entdecken.4 Doch schon bald begann sich mein Interesse mehr auf die richtige Führung einer Klasse zu richten, auf das Geheimnis, Schüler neugierig auf Unterrichtsinhalte zu machen und ihre Motivation zur aktiven Teilnahme zu wecken, da ich die Erkenntnis gewonnen hatte, dass viele Schüler häufig abgelenkt waren, nicht selten geringer Eigenantrieb bestand, sich engagiert am Unterricht zu beteiligen und aktiv mit dessen Inhalten auseinanderzusetzen. Oft mussten Lehrer um die Aufmerksamkeit und Disziplin ihrer Schüler kämpfen. Dies nahm ich schließlich zum Anlass, stärker über den ordnenden Aspekt von Führung nachzudenken und das Wesen natürlicher Autorität im Umgang mit einer Klasse. Ich habe exemplarisch zwei Lehrerpersönlichkeiten herausgegriffen und skizziere, wie sie ihren Unterricht in einer dritten bzw. zehnten Klasse organisieren. Meine Beobachtungen stelle ich in Bezug zu entsprechender Forschungsliteratur und persönlichen Reflexionen, um im Hinblick auf eine eigene spätere Lehrtätigkeit zu ersten grundsätzlichen Erkenntnissen über die Führung von Schulklassen und Aktivierung der Lernbereitschaft einzelner Schüler zu gelangen, da ich hier eine zentrale Aufgabe des Lehrers sehe.5 Methodische Überlegungen bleiben eher im Hintergrund. Dazu wäre eine stärkere Konzentration auf bestimmte Fächer nötig gewesen. Ein solcher Fokus mag einem künftigen Praktikum vorbehalten bleiben.
