Dit commentaar maakt deel uit van het Novum Commentarium Lovaniense dat de Faculteit Kerkelijk Recht te Leuven opstartte na de uitgave van het nieuwe kerkelijk Wetboek van 1983. Het becommentarieert het tweede en derde deel van Boek vier van Codex 1983. Beide delen vullen het sacramentenrecht (Deel I) aan. Ingedeeld in 7 titels over 18 hoofdstukken geven we hierbij telkens een beknopt geschiedkundig overzicht, de normen van Codex 1917, de vernieuwde zienswijze van het Tweede Vaticaans Concilie (1962-1964), de ontwerpen of schemata van 1983 om tenslotte de hedendaagse kerkelijke wetgeving, met bijzondere aandacht voor Nederland en Belgie, te bespreken. Na de inhoudsopgave volgt een inleiding over de plaats van de materie in het wetboek van 1983, een vergelijking met dat van 1917 en met de Codex van de canones van de oosterse Kerken (1990). Op het einde van onze studie geven we dan drie lijsten van de aangehaalde canones. Een trefwoordenlijst van zaken, waarin we ook de Vaticaanse documenten opnemen, van personen en plaatsen beeindigt dit werk.

This inventory in Dutch contains a description of the records which Msgr. Willy Onclin (1905-1989), professor of Canon Law in Louvain, has left behind from 1960 till 1986. This book consists of two parts. A first part concerns the activities of W. Onclin as peritus to the Second Vatican Council, especially regarding the decrees Christus Dominus, Presbyterorum ordinis and Optatam totius, the dogmatic constitution Lumen gentium and the declaration Gravissimum educationis. The greater second part draws up an inventory of the documents which W. Onclin gathered in his function as assistant-secretary of the Papal Commission for the Revision of the Code of Canon Law. It is devided following the chapters of the new Code of 1983. In this commission W. Onclin was very active concerning the Lex Ecclesiae Fundamentalis, the canons of Book I or General Norms, of Book II or People of God and the canons on the sacraments. By taking this book in the series Novum Commentarium Lovaniense in Codicem Iuris Canonici we want to draw attention to and stimulate the research of the wording of the Code of Canon Law of 1983. This repertory gives namely a survey of the many varied sources, gathered by a world-famous canon lawyer of Louvain, which can be useful for a correct interpretation of the editorial history of the new Code.

Heritage continues to crumble, with nearly 2,000 churches closed in England, billions of unused or lost land assets in the United States, and more than 600 churches demolished in the Netherlands. Tens of thousands of churches in Scandinavia, Germany, Belgium, and France are also clamoring for our attention, while their Québec counterparts have faced steadily declining parishioners' interest for the past several years. Forty-odd North American and European specialists share their experiences and make suggestions regarding the future and ownership of these noble buildings, as well as their purpose and use. They also describe the challenges of urban planning and managing such buildings, and explore new approaches that will help churches survive by redefining their purpose and status within the community.
