Die vorliegende Arbeit untersucht Charakteristiken multilokaler Lebensstile Beschäftigter mit einem berufsbezogenen Nebenwohnsitz in Wolfsburg. Die Untersuchung bezieht sich auf die Motive, Mobilitäts-, Wohn-, Aktivitäts-, Konsum-, und Integrationsmuster und leitet darauf aufbauend ortsspezifische Effekte für die Stadtentwicklung ab, welche sich auf die Handlungsfelder Stadtstruktur und Wohnungsmarkt, Finanzen und Wirtschaftsstruktur sowie Bürgerbeteiligung und Ehrenamt beziehen. Dabei wird berufsbedingte Multilokalität im Kontext des sozialen und ökonomischen Wandels sowie flexibilisierter Arbeitsmärkte als eigenständige Mobilitätsform zwischen Migration und Zirkulation verstanden. Anhand einer statistischen Sekundäranalyse und leitfadengestützter Interviews werden berufsbedingt Multilokale als Multiplikatoren zur Steigerung der lokalen Nachfrage und Kaufkraft identifiziert. Weiterhin stellen sie differenzierte Anforderungen an den Wolfsburger Wohnungsmarkt und können damit eine stabilisierende Wirkung auf schrumpfende Stadtteile haben. Allerdings besteht durch die einseitige Nachfrage im Einzelhandel die Gefahr der Reduzierung und Verlagerung des gesamtstädtischen Angebotsspektrums. Durch die erhöhte Nutzung von innerstädtischen gastronomischen Angeboten kann phasenweise eine zusätzliche Belebung bestimmter Quartierte initiiert werden. In Abhängigkeit der lokalen Einbettung steht für ehrenamtliche Beteiligung ein erweiterter Personenpool zur Verfügung. Im Hinblick auf den weiteren qualitativen und quantitativen Bedeutungsgewinn des Phänomens multilokaler Lebensführung werden die städtischen Infrastrukturen am Herkunftsals auch am Zielort insgesamt vor erhöhte Herausforderungen gestellt. Die räumlichen Auswirkungen von Multilokalität sowie darauf bezugnehmende Steuerungsinstrumente für die Planungspraxis werden allerdings erst in jüngster Zeit erforscht. Für eine genaue quantitative Betrachtung der Effekte multilokaler Lebensstile für die kommunalen Aufwendungen und Erträge, die Auslastung und Dimensionierung der städtischen Infrastrukturen sowie für die Bürgerbeteiligung muss daher primär eine exakte Erfassung der berufsbedingt Multilokalen erfolgen.

In 1854, the originator of Viennese Operetta, Franz von Suppé created the music for a new play by Leonhart Wohlmuth. It is part of a forgotten art form where the music underlines and accompanies the action on stage in a similar way to a soundtrack for a film. While the music works very well in the present day, the real challenge is to modernise the script to make it relevant and interesting for a modern audience. Originally written in early 19th century German, the script sounds outdated and received a less than positive reception at its original outing. Its dialogue is more in keeping with Opera and required significant work to make it palatable to a contemporary audience. The project on which this book is based maintained the music by Suppé as indicated in the manuscript score, while translating and adapting the German script by Wohlmuth into a version more interesting in the present day.

Grandt deliberately refrains from a narrow, empirical definition of jazz or of transnationalism and, true to the jazz aesthetic itself, opts for a broader, more inclusive scope, even as he listens carefully and closely to jazz's variegated soundtrack.
