A heartbroken Dominic has spent a year preparing for a wedding that never happened. His boyfriend, Jake, left him at the altar in the most heartless possible way, and now Dominic is stuck with a non-refundable tropical honeymoon that he doesn't even want. Unwilling to let the ticket go to waste, and desperate to get as far away from his ex-fiance as possible, Dominic takes the four-hour flight to the nameless island which houses the year's hottest honeymoon getaway: Hideaway Resort. Everything about the island is created for lovers. Everything, that is, except the humble island bar on the beach, set apart from the tourist traps of the boardwalk. Dominic finds solace here, and immediately strikes up a flirtation with the sexy bartender, Bo. Assuaging his guilt and pain with alcohol, Dominic allows Bo to sweep him off his feet. Maybe an island romance is just what Dominic needs to get him past Jake's betrayal. All of his progress is undone in a single moment when Jake appears on the island unexpectedly, intent on winning Dominic back. He comes bearing reasons, excuses, and rationalizations; will Dominic learn enough about himself and his former lover to cut through the manipulation? Jake doggedly pursues him, but Dominic has already fallen for the enticing Bo. Dominic will have to neutralize the threat that Jake represents to his future happiness, while confronting the disaster of his broken heart. Bo protects him, both physically and emotionally, supporting him through one tough decision after another; but it's just a fling. After all, Dominic's vacation will eventually be over. Through a series of events outside of Dominic's control, he finds himself trapped on the island for weeks. Bo offers him a chance to stay forever. He gives him the choice: stay, and spend the rest of his life in a tropical paradise; or leave, to return to a crushing environment with the threat of Jake's retribution on every corner. When Dominic is confronted with the choice, he has to question his own motives. Is he falling in love? Or is he just afraid to go home?

Eco-Resorts is a design guide for low impact, environmentally friendly tourist resorts in the tropics. The book is the first to offer architects practical, detailed guidance in developing resort buildings that work with a tropical climate and meet the needs and expectations of the client and building inhabitants. The book includes both architectural design and material solutions, supported by theoretical principles, to present a sustainable approach to resort design. It demonstrates that tropical resort buildings do not necessarily require large energy input, in compliance with green building standards. Case studies show how principles of sustainable design have been successfully applied in tropical environments. * Written by an industry insider with practical design experience, knowledge and expertise. * Demonstrates design practices related to site planning and layout, and re-assesses best practices for a tropical environment, allowing architects to apply design principles to their own projects. * Includes international case studies from several countries to illustrate best practice from a variety of tropical climate destinations around the world. Z (Zbigniew) Bromberek, PhD, is an architect educated and registered in Poland, and postgraduate-educated and residing in Australia. Z has been practising and teaching architecture for nearly 30 years. He has been involved and associated with various educational institutions and professional organizations in a number of countries around the world. Each time I see a new place I privately play the game of, Would I be happy living here permanently? My reactions for Fiji, mostly happy ones, aren't based entirely on Fiji's miles of white beaches, her rattling palms, the variety of her villages, or the dramatic hill country. I can find these things in dozens of Pacific destinations and, as much as I love most of them, none are choices for my declining years. Fiji has the required qualities OCo among them, space and lots of it. Viti Levu, the big island where Suva and Nadi are, has 4,000 square miles. Vanua Levu, the next island in size, has 2,000 square miles. And then there are the smaller ones Ovalau, Taveuni, Koro, Kandavu, Bau, the Lau group OCo and hundreds of other tiny dots of land. The people, 700,000 of them, are varied too. There are native Fijians, Polynesians, Indians, Chinese and a fair sprinkling of expatriate Australians, New Zealanders, English, and Americans. Some of them like me require a city, perhaps not to live in but at least available. Suva is such a place. It's small, in places it's tatty and hodge-podge, but it fits my specifications. When you're hungry, the best Indian and Chinese food in the Pacific is available. Mexican, Indonesian, and Italian food can be found too, or you can dine in splendor at a wide range of stylish restaurants. When you're thirsty you can drink in an English or Australian pub, and when you feel poorly, good medical and dental care is available. For housing, something like $75,000 will provide you with a nice home in Suva, or you can live in the country-club environmentaof Pacific Harbor, 35 miles away. The University of the Pacific provides cultural resources if you want them and, because Fiji is such a Pacific crossroads, flights leave daily for Australia, New Zealand, Hawaii, Europe, and theaFar East. This is the most comprehensive guide to these islands. Where to stay, where to eat, how to get around, what to see and do. All of the practical information you need is spelled out in detail. And hundreds of color photos bring the islands alive "
