Los cuatro hermanos se juntaron para formar a Tlalocatecuhtli y a su esposa Chalchiuhtli cue, declarados dioses del liquido elemento. Moraban en un aposen to de cuatro compartimientos, en medio de los cuales habia un gran patio con cuatro grandes estanques llenos de aguas diversas; la pri mera buena para los panes y simientes, la otra que anubla las plan tas, la tercera que las hiela, la ultima improductiva, y que las seca. Tlaloc hizo multitud de ministros de pequeno tamano, los cuales habitaban en los cuatro compartimientos; armado cada uno de una alcancia y un palo, cuando se les manda ir a algun lugar, toman del agua que se les ordena, vertiendola en forma de lluvia para regar la tierra; el trueno se produce, porque los ministros pigmeos quiebran con los palos las alcancias; el rayo es, cuando alguno de los tiestos de las anforas celestes cae del cielo, hiriendo algun mortal. En el conjunto de las aguas habian creado los comisionados un gran pez llamado Cipactli, en junta de los cuatro dioses hicieron la tierra del Cipaetli, con siderandola tambien dios bajo el nombre de Tlaltecuhtli y le pintan por ello tendido sobre un pescado. Entretanto nacio un hijo al primer par de hombres y le llamaron Pilcintecnhtli; no teniendo companera, los dioses le formaron una de los cabellos de Xochiquetzal. Vieron tambien los cuatro herma nos que el medio sol servia de poco, y consultando la manera de completarle, Tezcatlipoca lo tomo a su cargo convirtiendose en el primer sol entero. Segun aquella teoria, sol y luna andan en el aire sin tocar los cielos; el astro de la luz, saliendo por Oriente, solo lle ga al meridiano, de donde se torna al punto de partida; de lo alto del cielo al Occidente lo que se mira no es el sol, sino su re ejo, y de noche no anda ni parece. Por fin, los cuatro dioses crearon a los gigantes, hombres de tantas fuerzas quearrancaban los arboles con las manos; mantenianse solamente de bellotas de encina. This is the first modern edition of Book X of the Historia Animalium. It argues that the first five chapters are a summary, from the hand of Aristotle, of a medical treatise by a physician practicing in the fourth-century BCE. This gives short shrift to Hippocratic staples such as trapped menses and the wandering womb, and describes a woman's climax during sex in terms that can be easily mapped onto modern accounts. In summarizing the treatise and examining its claims in the last two chapters, Aristotle follows the method described in the Topics for a philosopher embarking on a new field of study. Here we see Aristotle's ruminations over the conundrum of a woman's contribution to conception at an early stage in the development of his theory of reproduction. Far from being an insignificant pseudepigraphon, this is a central text for understanding the development of ancient gynaecology and Aristotelian methodology.
