Tam poco es de olvidar que el hombre no a llevado allí aun la actividad fe cunda de su industria; siendo lo ue ha obtenido con ella, bajo latitu es frías y en paises todavia mas ingra tos, una prueba de lo que pudiera hacer en esta, si la poblacion, aumen tada en América en la misma pro porcion que en Europa se diese cada tierra su importancia y valor. Todos los autores no obstante es tán de acuerdo en reconocer que so bre el límite de la zona septentrio nal de la Patagonia, el suelo es mas productivo que en la rejion del sur. N el norte se detiene com lacida la vista sobre la risueña pra era don de a veces los frutales de Europa, trasplantados por los primeros colo nos españoles, se confunden con el sauce del pais. Causa una agradable sorpresa hallar en las riberas del Rio Negro la higuera, el cerezo, el man zano y la viña con toda la riqueza de una vigorosa vejetacion. En su ma fuera del territorio que conñna con la re 'blica de Buenos Aires, el aspecto e la parte conocida de la Pata onia es esencialmente unifor me. Randes llanuras donde no se divisan mas que escasos matorrales abrasados por la sequedad algunos montecillos acá y acullá que se ele van en medio de eriales priva dos de toda sombra tal es el triste panorama que se descubre a la vista del estranjero en un radio muy estenso del territorio patagon.
