Historia del Rock Andaluz es la crónica indispensable de un tiempo que, sin proponérselo, transformó a una generación. La música en España no volvió a ser la misma tras la irrupción de aquellos melenudos mal vistos por una dictadura que vivía su agonía en el fragor de una naciente democracia. En este ensayo el autor ha dado la palabra a los protagonistas de un tipo de música surgido en los primeros años 70, fruto de la fusión del rock progresivo que ya se hacía en Gran Bretaña y Estados Unidos, y que comenzaba entonces a oírse en España, con la cultura más tradicional de este país. Esa música, nacida sin etiquetas, se bautizó poco tiempo después con el nombre de «rock andaluz». Historia del Rock Andaluz está estructurado en tres partes: La primera está dedicada a los antecedentes. Nada surge de la nada ni nace por casualidad. Todo es fruto, siempre, de un proceso. En la segunda parte del libro se analiza el rock andaluz más puro, el que se ajustó a los cánones, a veces difíciles de definir pero siempre reconocibles, que fijaron bandas como Triana, Alameda o Medina Azahara. La tercera parte del libro aborda esos otros caminos que, partiendo del que abrieron los pioneros del rock andaluz, supieron encontrar nuevos terrenos igualmente fértiles para la fusión de la música anglosajona con la tradición flamenca.

Extracto: Extremoduro es un grupo espanol de rock fundado en Plasencia en 1987. Ellos mismos han definido su estilo como "rock transgresivo" aunque se le suele catalogar como rock urbano. El fundador, lider, vocalista y guitarrista extremeno "Robe" Iniesta ha sido el unico miembro estable a lo largo de su historia, aunque Inaki Anton "Uoho," productor y guitarrista vasco inicio su colaboracion con el grupo en 1993 integrandose paulatinamente hasta ser el miembro mas activo junto al propio Robe. Completan la formacion Miguel Colino al bajo y Jose Ignacio Cantera a la bateria. Roberto Iniesta (tambien conocido como "Robe") funda la banda en el verano de 1987 en Plasencia, segunda ciudad mas importante de la provincia extremena de Caceres (Espana). Antes, en 1983, habia creado el grupo Dosis Letal con Zosimo "Zosi" Pascual, con quien compuso el tema "La Carrera," que posteriormente seria el penultimo corte del disco de 1996 de Extremoduro: Agila. Extremoduro eran inicialmente el propio Robe, a la voz y guitarra, "Chico" al bajo y "Miguelin" a la bateria. Esta primera formacion dura solo unos meses que acaban con un paron, tras lo cual Robe decide reactivar el grupo y busca a Salo y Luis "von Fanta" para que sustituyan a Kaito y William respectivamente.
