50 Battles That Changed The World written by William Weir and has been published by Permuted Press+ORM this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2018-05-29 with History categories.

An informative look at the military conflicts that most altered the course of history and civilization, from ancient times to the modern world. Rather than celebrating warfare, 50 Battles That Changed the World looks at the clashes the author believes have had the most profound impact on world history. Ranked in order of their relevance to the modern world, these struggles range from the ancient past to the present day and span the globe many times over. Some of the battles in this book are familiar to us all—Bunker Hill, which prevented the American Revolution from being stillborn, and Marathon, which kept the world’s first democracy alive. Others may be less familiar—the naval battle at Diu (on the Indian Coast), which led to the ascendancy of Western Civilization and the discovery of America, and Yarmuk, which made possible the spread of Islam from Morocco to the Philippines. With remarkable accounts of both famous and lesser-known clashes, 50 Battles That Changed the World provides impressive insight into the battles that shaped civilization as we know it.

1812 Napoleon In Moscow written by Paul Britten Austin and has been published by Frontline Books this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2012-12-03 with History categories.

This account of Napoleon’s disastrous invasion of Russia, in the words of those who experienced it, offers “a brilliant insight into men at war” (David G. Chandler, author of The Campaigns of Napoleon). Hundreds of thousands of men set out on that midsummer day of 1812. None could have imagined the terrors and hardships to come. They’d been lured all the way to Moscow without having achieved the decisive battle Napoleon sought—and by the time they reached the city, their numbers had already dwindled by more than a third. One of the greatest disasters in military history was in the making. The fruit of more than twenty years of research, this superbly crafted work skillfully blends the memoirs and diaries of more than a hundred eyewitnesses, all of whom took part in the Grand Army’s doomed march on Moscow, to reveal the inside story of this landmark military campaign. The result is a uniquely authentic account in which the reader sees and experiences the campaign through the eyes of participants in enthralling day-by-day, sometimes hour-by-hour detail.

566 Frames written by Dennis Wojda and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2014-10 with Graphic novels categories.

The story goes that Dennis Wojda, already an established comics creator in Poland, decided to do something ambitious; he decided to tell the story of his family. He opted to do it on his webpage and planned it out to 366 panels or frames - one for every day of a year and one extra. It was hugely successful and as its popularity grew so did interest from Polish publishers. The problem was the 366 frames of the story did not really fit into any publishers idea of a graphic novel - not enough pages. So they asked him if he could expand it for a book version. Dennis had agonised for weeks before starting the project because he was going to either cut the vivid stories of his ancestors lives or just omit some of them altogether. The publisher asking for more frames meant he could cover everything he wanted to, the right way and with due respect and deference.

Christianity And The Religions written by Jacques Dupuis and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2002 with Religion categories.

In this incisive and important volume, Jacques Dupuis offers new insights on the most important issue facing Christian theology today -- giving an account of Christian faith as Christians go more deeply along the road of dialogue and collaboration with the followers of other religious traditions. His task is to square a dogmatic circle. How does one do justice to the Gospel claim that Jesus the Christ is the final and universal savior of all humankind in every age, while also doing justice to the experience that truth, grace, holiness, and power are experienced in other religious traditions? In the first six chapters Dupuis reviews the history of the Western Christian tradition's teaching on other religious Ways through the breakthrough at Vatican Council II. In chapters 7 and 8 he reviews the critical issues of uniqueness of Christ and Christian proposals to account for the mediation of salvation in other religious Ways. He discusses also the relationship between the Reign of God, the Church, and the Religions. In chapter 9 he explores the nature and role of dialogue in a pluralistic society. In chapter 10 offers sage reflections on interreligious prayer.

An impressive work of media and communication scholarship, this meticulouslyresearched book provides comprehensive and authoritative treatment to the developmentof European Union media policy, in all its complexity and competingrationales; it offers a study of EU enlargement and conditionality; and it examinesin detail the EU's impact on the new member states in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE), insightfully exploring themes such as content regulation and the promotion of European works, media ownership and media pluralism, the independence ofregulatory agencies, and public service media.
