La presente obra incluye una serie de trabajos que tienen en común el estudio de distintas épocas y aspectos de la tierra de Vera, situada en el levante almeriense. Desde una perspectiva multidisciplinar, científicos, arqueólogos, filólogos, arquitectos urbanistas, historiadores, economistas y profesores de distintas materias, nos acercan a la historia acaecida en estas tierras. Si bien podría pensarse que es una obra centrada en la historia local, el tratamiento de los distintos temas rebasa este marco y la contextualización que se realiza en los diferentes trabajos nos permite extraer argumentos útiles para la interpretación de una historia que supera lo regional. Las características de la tierra de Vera y los distintos sucesos que han tenido lugar a lo largo de su historia configuraron determinados rasgos que permiten su calificación como un territorio vulnerable y de frontera. Por estas razones, la obra también permite extraer valiosas enseñanzas sobre los comportamientos económicos, sociológicos y políticos acontecidos en un territorio con estos atributos.
