Hoenir il druido è un epic fantasy, ambientato in una terra di un non meglio imprecisato passato (o futuro?), la cui esistenza sembra sconvolta da alcuni sinistri presagi; dal duplice piano di lettura: da una parte ci sono le vicende dei protagonisti, i quali si muovono in un mondo devastato da un Cataclisma, che ha riportato la civiltà ad uno stato che assomiglia molto al nostro Medioevo; dall’altra, un misterioso scriba raccoglie fogli e pergamene del passato, alla ricerca del filo conduttore di una Profezia, e riscopre le leggende della mitologia ellenica e nordica: è l’antica ed eterna storia dell’umanità che, nei momenti di grande difficoltà, riesce a riprendersi raccogliendo e mettendo in ordine i “cocci” del proprio passato. Le due storie si intrecciano ed intersecano tra di loro e ben presto quattro ragazzi, poco più che adolescenti, scoprono di essere destinati ad avere una parte rilevante in una svolta epocale, da cui dipende il destino dell’intero universo: le forze del Caos vogliono rientrare nella nostra dimensione e fagocitarla tutta! Hoenir il druido si lega al senso del meraviglioso in quanto i protagonisti sono chiamati a confrontarsi con la natura che li circonda, con la loro storia personale e con quella della loro civiltà; si scontrano, in tal senso, concezioni diverse della vita: la razionalità di Crise (sacerdotessa di un culto ispirato allo studio della logica e della filosofia), l’emotività di Autolico (che segue, senza neanche troppa convinzione, il culto di Haimal, che privilegia sentimenti e passioni), l’empatia di Hoenir (un druido dedicato al culto della natura), il buon senso - semplice e spicciolo ma efficace - del fabbro Kowen. In che modo queste caratteristiche tra loro apparentemente incompatibili possano armonizzarsi tra di loro, sarà il lettore a scoprirlo, in questo viaggio che si interroga sul valore della storia e della tradizione, sulla grandezza della propria forza interiore e sull’importanza dei messaggi che la natura ci trasmette attraverso il Wyrd.
