De modo que la vocación de fotógrafos de tatarabuelo, bisabuelo, abuelo, padre e hijo no podía menos que inculcar en Álvaro Delgado De los Ríos, nieto de la estirpe, una profesión que evidentemente se ha transmitido de generación en generación y que ha traído ocupada a una familia entera que hoy, en virtud de una actividad ejercida sin pausa, con esmero y dedicación, ha sido fiel testigo no solamente de la vida social de Cartagena de Indias sino de su ostensible belleza, su apasionante historia y desde luego del desarrollo y avatares de una vida que todos los Delgado han visto transcurrir y que han dejado impresa en sus fotografías para la posteridad.
