Concepts of death vary. Works of literature have shaped Western culture's concept of death, and within a certain tradition, none more so than The Epic of Gilgamesh and Homer. We should examine how they conceive of death, and respond to it, in order to understand what death it how it is in relation with the natural cycle of life.
