This is a collection of select stories about our life of travel, relationship and faith. I’ve tried to describe the effort it has taken us to purposefully invest in our gifts and talents and follow the open doors, no matter what the cost. In our four decades together we have moved sixteen times and covered 17,000 miles, lived in four states and two countries and taken more than twenty trips to fourteen different countries in Europe, Scandinavia and Mexico, ranging from two weeks up to six months in length. All of these adventures involved at least some measure of risk but most of them required a great deal of what some would call faith but others might refer to as being foolishness. This is my attempt to present truthful narratives that will allow the readers to come to their own conclusions about how to categorize our lifestyle. In this third edition I have added a few additional stories about our ongoing experiences with faith in recent traveling adventures, in ministry and in some of our closest relationships. Hopefully, by reading about someone else’s journey of faith, you’ll find a little extra courage and inspiration to pursue your own dreams as I describe our life, living outside the box.

“One of the finest and most helpful books we have ever read . . . should be the first stop for any parent trying to help a struggling child.” —Brock Eide and Fernette Eide, authors of The Mislabeled Child Finally, a positive approach designed around your child’s traits and needs Many children do things that seem odd, troubling, or excessive at some point in their development, and our culture is quick to attach a label to every child who’s “outside the box” or hard to raise. Again and again, studies document the explosion in the number of children receiving psychiatric diagnoses for being intense, moody, or offbeat. In this groundbreaking book, childhood development expert Barbara Probst provides a new framework for identifying the specific traits—like rigidity, curiosity, perfectionism, intensity, slow tempo, a need for novelty, or a need for control—that lie at the root of your child’s challenging behavior. When the Labels Don’t Fit features a questionnaire for profiling your child’s temperament and more than sixty strategies for dealing with specific kinds of behavior. It’s the first comprehensive system that’s not based on figuring out what’s “wrong” with your child, but on helping you tap into your child’s strengths so you can manage, nurture, and enjoy his or her essential nature.

· In Portland, Oregon, the wives of several prominent businessmen have disappeared without a trace, leaving behind only a black rose and a note with a simple message: “Gone, But Not Forgotten.” · An identical series of disappearances occurred in Hunter’s Point, New York, ten years ago—but the killer was caught, the case was closed and the special “rose killer” task force was disbanded. · Betsy Tannenbaum, a Portland wife and mother who has gained national recognition as a feminist defense attorney, is retained by multimillionaire Portland developer Martin Darius—for no apparent reason. · Nancy Gordon, a homicide detective for the Hunter’s Point Police Department and an original member of the “rose killer” task force, hasn’t slept a full night in ten years, haunted by nightmares of a sadistic killer who, she swears, is still out there. . . · Alan Page, the Portland district attorney, trying to make sense of the sudden series of disappearances, opens his front door one evening to find Nancy Gordon on his doorstep—determined to tell him a story he won’t soon forget. · Across the country, in Washington, D.C., the President of the United States has just selected United States Senator Raymond Colby to be the next Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. In a private meeting, Colby assures the President there are no skeletons in his closet. Complex, utterly compelling, and brilliantly executed, GONE, BUT NOT FORGOTTEN is a book that truly lives up to its extraordinary advance praise: Once begun it simply cannot be put down.

Why I Take The Bible Seriously But Not Literally written by Eugene C. Rollins and has been published by AuthorHouse this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2013 with Religion categories.

As a pastor I have a dual role: that of a prophet and a priest. The prophet confronts the people, and the priest comforts the people. I am to comfort the troubled and trouble the comfortable. In relationship to the Bible, the dual struggle is clear. As the priest, I take the Bible seriously because it changes lives (first sermon). I have never heard anyone give testimony that reading Plato's The Republic, Virgil's Aeneid, Homer's Odyssey, Cicero's Moral Ethics, or John Stewart Mill's Liberty changed their lives. But thousands of people have given testimony of how reading the Bible has changed their lives forever. As the prophet, I propose to you that no book has been more abused than the Bible or more misunderstood. The Bible has been a playground for lunatics, profit for the charlatans, a profession for the clergy, a problem for theologians, a puzzle for the general public, and placid for the masses. I believe if a person will read the Bible interpretatively and intelligently it will be read seriously, respectfully and reverently thereby becoming the living word of God. Gene Rollins, Author
