Spirituality: We are born under the law of spiritual death and our minds, from infancy, give us a feeling of helplessness and inferiority. At conversion, God instantly places us into union with Jesus Christ and deposits in our spirits all the abilities of Jesus Christ. But this awareness must begin in our spirits and then be transmitted to our souls. Our spirits are the center of our whole being. The spirit man is more real than the outward man, the soulish man, or the physical man. The spirit controls our destiny and it contains the lifeblood inside of us. The spirit controls who we are and what we are. It is eternal. The believer will live for eternity in heaven and the unbeliever will live for eternity in hell. What determines the destiny of the believer and the unbeliever is what is contained in their spirit. We must meditate on God's Word and develop our spirit man. The believer has unlimited possibilities in the Divine life of Christ within him. There is no ground for a man to be weak. The power is in his spirit. There is a harmony in our being. Man is a trichotomous being, spirit, soul and body. When these are in harmony with God's will, a stature develops in our being that activates and keeps us functioning to who we are in Christ. Ephesians 4:13 reveals the facts to be attained in the, ."unity of faith, unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ." What I am in my Spirit: The wise man Solomon stated in Proverbs 20:27, "The spirit of a man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all the inner depths of his heart." We must establish that God created man to be a spirit-dominated and controlled being, not a physical and soul dominated and controlled being. To fullyunderstand the spirit within man, we must understand in what relationship are the spirit, soul and the body. Man is a spirit being. What we are in our spirit is what we are. The real us is who and what we are in our spirit. We have often placed the statement, "body, soul, and spirit" in its reverse order in importance. When the Bible referred to the order of our makeup in 1 Thessalonians 5:23, ..".I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless...." In this order, the Bible is emphasizing spirit first because the real you is your spirit. We have a soul and we live in a body, but the real us, who and what we are, is in our spirit. When we look at the creation of man, God formed us from the dust of the earth, breathed into our bodies the breathe of life. The original Hebrew word from which breath comes means 'spirit.' God created us a spirit, gave us a soul that we may be able to deal with the mental world around us, gave us a physical body to live in a material and physical world but our spirit was created by God to be a spirit dominated and controlled being -- to be in a class like God and different from the rest of God's creations. If you look at Adam in the beginning before the fall, he was a spirit dominated and controlled man. Adam was in the soulish and functioned in that realm. He had a consciousness of his will, mind, emotions and feelings. But the key to Adam's power as a spirit man was that his' consciousness; his' soul, mind and emotions were all under the power and influence of the spiritual realm. To become spiritually activated is first to become aware of our true reality - a spirit being.
