The Science of Time Travel explores time travel through your favorite science-fiction franchises, from the classic time travel paradoxes of Star Trek to the universe-crossing shenanigans of Doctor Who. Discover the real science behind questions such as: Can time travel really erase our past regrets like in A Christmas Carol? Is it worth killing people in the past to prevent a horrible future like in Terminator? What can we learn from living the same day over and over again like in Groundhog Day? Could time travel destroy our right to privacy like in Deja Vu? And so much more! Can you really change the past? And if so, is it dangerous to do so? Should you be worried about the so-called Grandfather Paradox? What about the Butterfly Effect? What do time travellers really need to know? All these questions and more are answered, with examples from popular movies. "M.J." is an avid writer and gamer, co-creator of Multiverser: The Game, and well known for his web site Temporal Anomalies in Popular Time Travel Movies; some of his writings have been translated into French and German. He can be found on Facebook and other social media platforms, and through MJYoung.net, the Christian Gamers Guild, and Patreon. If you've ever watched a time travel film and thought to yourself, "Hey, that's not how it would work!" then this book is for you. While most time travel stories will simply have a character say a few lines of technobabble to handwave away plot holes or logical gaps, in The Essential Guide to Time Travel, Mark Joseph Young explains the leading time travel theories in a logical concise way, then picks apart some of our most loved and cherished time travel films to show how they either make sense or don't (hint, they usually don't). But he doesn't stop there. Young uses the replacement theory to rationalize what had to have happened across multiple unseen timelines in order for what we see on screen to have happened. His analyses also plausibly solve paradoxes that the stories themselves create, thereby saving the universe! The knowledge contained in this book will make you enjoy the time travel genre in new, mind-blowing ways. You'll never just "watch" another time travel movie ever again.

As this book is a real story that depicts real events, there is no fancy flying saucers or huge explosions and effects. There are no space creatures and aliens although I am not discounting anyone that has seen them. This is a real story that appears normal on the surface, except for prison time as most people do not go to prison (I don’t think). The prison time, although abnormal for most of the population is a normal prison (I suppose as I haven’t been to too many). However, it is within this buried dark place, where the seed of interest was planted and started to grow. This seed occurred yet before prison in the Hip Hop Studio of my former home; Muzak Studios where I encountered strange anomalies while recording. Coupling this with a dream I had while in prison, stirred the passion and lust for learning in this field. After my release, I was embraced with a world of technology and information that was unprecedented before my release and I have leveraged that to learn more about this phenomenon of time travel and distortion.

Connie Willis S Science Fiction written by Carissa Turner Smith and has been published by Taylor & Francis this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2022-10-31 with Literary Criticism categories.
In spite of Connie Willis’s numerous science fiction awards and her groundbreaking history as a woman in the field, there is a surprising dearth of critical publication surrounding her work. Taking Doomsday Book as its cue, this collection argues that Connie Willis’s most famous novel, along with the rest of her oeuvre, performs science fiction’s task of cognitive estrangement by highlighting our human inability to read the times correctly—and yet also affirming the ethical imperative to attempt to truly observe and record our temporal location. Willis’s fiction emphasizes that doomsdays happen every day, and they risk being forgotten by some, even as their trauma repeats for others. However, disasters also have the potential to upend accepted knowledge and transform the social order for the better, and this collection considers the ways that Willis pairs comic and tragic modes to reflect these uncertainties.

The questions of metaphysics are the deepest and most puzzling questions there are. What is time? Am I free in my actions? What makes me the same person I was as a child? What is it for one thing to cause another? Riddles of Existence is the first book ever to make metaphysics genuinely accessible and fun. Its lively, informal style brings the riddles to life and shows how stimulating it can be to think about them. No philosophical background is required to enjoy this book: anyone who has thought about life's most profound questions will find plenty to provoke and entertain them here.
