Pada titik ini, terasa bagi saya bahwa berhadap-hadapan dengan khazanah perpuisian sebelumnya sikap Faruk teramat rileks. Dia tak ngotot bergulat dengan autentisitas. Baginya, agaknya yang terpenting dunia-dunia renik yang berkelebatan dalam benaknya bisa mendapatkan rumah dan sarang dalam sajak-sajak. Oleh karena itu, sesekali dia mencuri begitu saja frasa, kalimat, atau ungkapan dari para penyair sebelumnya dan menggabungkannya dengan frasa dan ungkapannya sendiri sehingga terjadi belokan, sedikit kejutan, yang kadang terasa segar dan kadang biasa-biasa saja. Saya menduga kesantaian itu berasal juga dari sikap detachment-nya. Dengan kata lain, dari jarak yang diambil sang penyair, bukan hanya dari perasaan-perasaan dan gagasan-gagasannya, tetapi juga dari tradisi dan beban-beban kepenyairan yang merungkupinya. Alhasil, dari ratusan puisi yang ada dalam buku ini kita nyaris tak menemukan pergulatan bentuk dan estetis habis-habisan, pencarian "suara lain" yang menunjukan bahwa penyairnya berambisi besar untuk memiliki tempat tersendiri di kebun kesusastraan negerinya. Biasa-biasa saja, tetapi wajar. Maksud saya, puisi-puisinya lahir tanpa dipaksakan (Tia Setiadi, Kritikus Sastra dan Penyair). Puisi merupakan bentuk karya yang sangat abstraktif sebagai sebuah pengalaman yang dituliskan karena bahasa-bahasa yang digunakan memiliki aspek-aspek simbolis dan tersembunyi sehingga pembaca membutuhkan refleksi pengalaman mereka sendiri untuk membongkar bahasa-bahasa tersebut agar dimungkinkan mendapatkan serpihan-serpihan makna dari puisi tersebut. Ini adalah dua proses berbeda, yakni produksi serta konsumsi dari pengarang dan pembaca yang sering kali makna yang dihadirkan pengarang tidak akan pernah ditemukan oleh pembacanya. Namun, ini pun bukanlah sebuah masalah karena yang terpenting adalah adanya refleksi dari kedua pihak yang merupakan proses berpikir... sebuah exercise intelektual. Kumpulan puisi ini adalah karya Prof. Faruk, akademisi yang sudah tidak diragukan lagi kemampuan analisis sastranya tidak hanya di Universitas Gadjah Mada, tetapi juga secara nasional dan internasional. Kumpulan puisi ini adalah sisi lain dari pengalaman intelektualnya yang dihadirkan tentu saja dengan perspektif yang berbeda dengan karya-karya ilmiahnya. Bagaimana ketika pengalaman estetis lewat puisi dan pengalaman intelektual tersebut mengalami perjumpaan, kumpulan puisi berjudul Huma Maya Ambang Korona ini mungkin adalah jawabannya.
