This autobiography is about a characters transition from a curious child, to an evil adolescent into a highly self-secure spiritual man. As a child he loves and is very close to his grandmother, whom although poor, she's always happy, very spiritual and the only real example of anyone being close to God. He loves to sit down with her and listen curiously as she discribes the beauty of heaven, aswell as reads and explaines, the at times grim prophecies of the bible. Still to young to understand, he would remain a confused and bitter unbeliever, due to all the pain and suffering that surrounded him on a daily basis. He's a child growing up in a very tough racially divided community, who never looks for trouble but trouble always finds him. At first he could care less and isn't impressed by the hoods in the fast life. But on the surface, compared to his mother and any hard working individual, it was the hoods that had it all. So by the time he'd become an adolescent, he's tired of being poor, any good he had left in him has faded and he vows to do whatever it takes to get ahead even if he has to kill! In the process he prays to the devil, makes an abundance of money, gains power and attains an unbelievable amount of notoriety. He'd become almost uncontrollable to the point, where he's very aware but dosn't care, that he only has two stops left, life in prison or eternal death in hell! Untill one fateful day when he's made to think about his only son, after a crime he'd commited that could have hurt or even killed an enemies innocent kids and thus began his road to repentance.

Rebellion in Heaven? That great deceiver, Lucifer, is at it again! Placing agents in a garden area just outside of Heaven, Satan targets newly arriving Christians who have little faith. These demons attempt to enlist these impressionable souls to join Satan's forces. Demonic intrigue takes place in the garden and on earth, where angels confront the devil's forces. One weak arrival at the Heavenly gate is Ernest G. Plover, who dreads meeting Jesus because he did not live for Him while on earth. When he arrives in the garden, Ernest avoids the gates of heaven, preferring, instead, to withdraw from the crowd and disappear for awhile. This causes the angelsresponsible for all Heavenlyadmissions to have an angelic meltdown as they try to find out what happened to this missing soul. Jesus himself chooses to seek out the fearful Ernest. A great battle between Lucifer's demons and God's warrior angels takes place that threatens the very foundation of Heaven. Through this story you will experience adventure, intrigue, humor and a few tears. Imagination isrequired as we explore what Heaven may be like. We will marvel at Heaven's organization, peek into God's throne room, and witness the encounter between angels and evil demons. This book would be a great read for young Christians!

It was a TV interview. We sat on two seats with the interviewer in front of us and the camera behind the interviewer. Our PR people standing behind the camera. The opening line to Linda and I was how did it happen? We were taking it in turns to answer when the interviewer got onto wounds and burns. My motor mouth erupted and my head was down so that the camera could see the burns to my scalp, my face and then, omg, it was the jeans that saved me from having third degree burns on my legs because of the strong material. My hands were as un-coordinated as my mouth and both were flapping and waving wildly. The interviewer looked at me. "You are very animated aren't you Juttee?" "No, I'm Australian," I replied in quick retort which had the whole room breaking up with laughter. But yes, if you cut my hands off I might be speechless, I said trying to save myself from a gaff. Why I used that as my retort I will never know, but it was about to stay with me for years to come.

Linspired reveals the remarkable journey of the ultimate underdog, Jeremy Lin, formerly of the New York Knicks, current superstar point guard of the Houston Rockets, and the first American-born player of Chinese/Taiwanese descent to play in the National Basketball Association. In spite of being cut by two NBA teams before he signed with the Knicks, Lin always trusted that God had a plan for his life and his talents. In an interview with Mike Yorkey, Lin says, "I'm not exactly sure how it is all going to turn out, but I know for a fact that God has called me to be here now in the NBA.” After weeks of sitting at the end of the bench, a teammate’s injury finally placed Lin on the court. Since then, he has captivated sports fans throughout the world with his tremendous skill and humble response to all the acclaim. Weighing in on this phenomenon are tennis’s Michael Chang, the first notable Asian-American athlete, Lin’s pastor, Stephen Chen, and Pat Williams, senior vice president of the Orlando Magic. Other features include eight pages of full-color photos and in-depth interviews with Lin himself, as well as an entirely new chapter detailing Jeremy’s move to the Rockets.

The Gang As An American Enterprise written by Felix M. Padilla and has been published by Rutgers University Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 1992 with Business & Economics categories.

The Diamonds are a Chicago Street gang whose members are second-generation Puerto Rican youths. For Felix Padilla the young men who join the Diamonds have made a logical choice. The gang is an alternative and dependable route to emotional support, self-respect, material goods, and upward mobility. Although Padilla shares the same ethnic background as the gang members and also grew up in a Chicago barrio, gaining the trust of the Diamonds was not easy. But eventually he was able to get close enough to the members to interview and observe them. Padilla shows us the process behind the decision to join the Diamonds. From early childhood, boys develop positive images of the gang. They realize that the dominant culture promises mobility, but that their paths to that mobility are blocked. By joining a gang they can creatively oppose the dominant culture. Padilla does not paint a romanticized picture of the Diamonds. Some members come to understand that when they sell drugs, they benefit the gang's leaders and suppliers more than themselves. Further, they recognize that the gang is also subject to problems of domination and inequality. Padilla shows that though the Diamonds are sometimes violent, they are not psychopaths. While we need not approve of what they do, Padilla urges us to understand it as a rational response to the doors these young men see closed around them.

Correspondents by Tim Murphy is a powerful story about the legacy of immigration, the present-day world of refugeehood, the violence that America causes both abroad and at home, and the power of the individual and the family to bring good into a world that is often brutal. Spanning the breadth of the twentieth century and into the post-9/11 wars and their legacy, Correspondents is a powerful novel that centres on Rita Khoury, an Irish-Lebanese woman whose life and family history mirrors the story of modern America. Both sides of Rita’s family came to the United States in the golden years of immigration, and in her home north of Boston Rita grows into a stubborn, perfectionist, and relentlessly bright young woman. She studies Arabic at university and moves to cosmopolitan Beirut to work as a journalist, and is then posted to Iraq after the American invasion in 2003. In Baghdad, Rita finds for the first time in her life that her safety depends on someone else, her talented interpreter Nabil al-Jumaili, an equally driven young man from a middle-class Baghdad family who is hiding a secret about his sexuality. As Nabil’s identity threatens to put him in jeopardy and Rita’s position becomes more precarious as the war intensifies, their worlds start to unravel, forcing them out of the country and into an uncertain future.
