They stitch you back up and send you back to resume your former life whilst laughing uproariously at their great joke as you descend down to earth. You still look like you on the outside but you feel very different internally. When you arrive back on planet earth, because you now have a very small piece of confectionary where you once had a intelligent brain, it stands to reason that nothing works properly. You start to ache in places you didn't even know existed. You have trouble doing any sort of exercise as all of your joints hurt. You cannot get off of the sofa in one swift movement anymore. You put on weight when you eat one crisp. The smallest stupidest little things get magnified out of all proportion. You get really grumpy and furiously angry, then the next day you start sobbing whilst watching a film about a family who inherit a Christmas tree farm??? You can't find anything in the house and you put things in very strange places (I once found a whole pack of smoked salmon in the cutlery drawer). You retain absolutely no information whatsoever, if an event is not written in my diary it will not be happening. Your sex drive takes a complete nose dive, and all you really want to do is sleep but you can't because you have vicious sweats that keep you awake all night. When eventually you do get some sleep it wipes clean any memory of the previous day and you can't remember what you were doing before you went to bed. Then to top it all, your husband begins to give you funny looks and starts avoiding you because he no longer recognises the strange woman he is living with.How did I decide to fight it?Constantly battling with the savage heat and an irrational fear of flying, I take a solo journey across South East Asia.Leaving my husband and my sensible life far behind, I set off with too much luggage and not enough shoes.This is the story of my big adventure.
