I'll Sing My Songs Again is the biography of Ronnie Besaw Fuller, who grew up in a tiny, poor American Indian community in Northeastern Wisconsin. He was sick for much of his youth, and the only real interest he had was playing the guitar and singing. Realizing the extraordinary talent that Ronnie had, his father took him to talent contests around the area. In 1953, at the age of seven, he performed on television, and that was before they even had one for their home. Ronnie performed with many bands around the Midwest and in 1969, while in Las Vegas, an important person heard two of his recordings. Ronnie signed a seven-year contract to perform on-stage as a musician. In 1976, Ronnie was diagnosed with Ankylasing Spondylitis. He returned to Wisconsin to deal with it. Doctors told him that he had about five years to live. He began treatment at a nearby clinic. For nearly ten years he was given an enormous amount of medications. The last several years the pill count got up to 80 pills per day. Then, after he crashed, they took him off of the medications without a detox program. In 1992, he filed a 50 million-dollar lawsuit for medical malpractice. The way the court case was handled is unprecedented and unbelievable for a court case that was handled in the United States of America. What happened to Ronnie Besaw Fuller should never happen to anyone else in this country During his 27 years of disability, Ronnie Fuller has recorded 35 songs and has written another 124 songs that are still to be recorded. His latest CD, "Message From America" is getting a lot of attention. Many people in the business believe Ronnie is one of the best songwriters of his time.

Newfoundlanders have long and lustily sung their folksongs, and the tradition remains strong today. Despite modern influences, the old songs persist, mixed with new songs that are composed to record the events of our time. This is the first major collection of Newfoundland folksongs compiled and edited by native Newfoundlanders. It concentrates on songs of local composition largely ignored by earlier collectors and presents a significant number of songs never before published. For most of the last decade Lehr and Best have been travelling around the island recording the voices and favourite songs of anyone, young and old, who would perform. Recordings took place in family kitchens, on stage heads, and in trap stores while the singer knitted twine or repaired lobster pots, aboard ships at anchor or en route to some small deserted harbour. Humming engines, blowing oilstoves, or clattering supper dishes provided accompaniment. The 120 songs collected here by Lehr and Best have been transcribed by Pamela Morgan and illustrated by Elly Cohen. Some recall the distant past of a long and rich seafaring tradition; others tell of such recent tragedies as the displacement of outport people and the sinking of the Ocean Ranger. The selection represents the state of the folk-song in Newfoundland today; in some part it documents what is lost and forgotten, but it also celebrates what has survived, and thrives.

I pray that all who encounter these original lyrics are blessed. Before writing a hymn, I ask the Lord to give me the words to write. Sometimes, He will flash a thought or concept into my mind and it will be up to me to find the words to express what He has given. At other times, He gives the words as fast as I can write them down. Some of these hymns took less than ten minutes to write, others took up to an hour. It is the Lord who allows me to find the right words to express the thoughts. To God be the glory for all that we do that pleases Him. I hope and pray that these hymns will make one look at "self" in relationship to how close one is to or how far away one is from God. Because there is no music in this book, you may adapt the songs to what ever pattern you choose. There will be times when the lyrics might not exactly fit the song from your church hymnal, but you can sing it any way you like. I do know that one church will sing a hymn one way and another church will sing the same song from the same hymnal in a different way. There is no set rule. You are free. Let the Holy Spirit be your guide. The lyrics are where the message is. May the Lord direct your steps. I repeat. The lyrics are where the message is. My favorite hymnist is Fanny Crosby. I hope to see her one day in glory and tell her of the profound influence her hymns had on me.
