IDEA-teemalehdessä tarkastellaan otsikon kysymystä viideltä eri kannalta: 1. Millaisia ajattelumenetelmiä tarvitaan, jos halutaan tietää, mitä maailmassa on tapahtumassa? Miten "filosofiset muodit" vaikuttavat kykyyn ja haluun nähdä tulevaisuuteen? 2. 4. Historianfilosofia tarkastelee ihmiskunnan tien suuria linjoja. Millaisia tulevaisuuden visioita Aristoteles, Hegel ja Marx aikoinaan hahmottelivat. Miten ne ovat toteutuneet, miten eivät? Ihmiskunnan nykytila ja totuuskomission idea. 5. Sensuroitua suomettuneessa Suomessa.

Learning To Live With Climate Change written by Blanche Verlie and has been published by Routledge this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-06-16 with Nature categories.

This imaginative and empowering book explores the ways that our emotions entangle us with climate change and offers strategies for engaging with climate anxiety that can contribute to social transformation. Climate educator Blanche Verlie draws on feminist, more-than-human and affect theories to argue that people in high-carbon societies need to learn to ‘live-with’ climate change: to appreciate that human lives are interconnected with the climate, and to cultivate the emotional capacities needed to respond to the climate crisis. Learning to Live with Climate Change explores the cultural, interpersonal and sociological dimensions of ecological distress. The book engages with Australia’s 2019/2020 ‘Black Summer’ of bushfires and smoke, undergraduate students’ experiences of climate change, and contemporary activist movements such as the youth strikes for climate. Verlie outlines how we can collectively attune to, live with, and respond to the unsettling realities of climate collapse while counteracting domineering ideals of ‘climate control.’ This impressive and timely work is both deeply philosophical and immediately practical. Its accessible style and real-world relevance ensure it will be valued by those researching, studying and working in diverse fields such as sustainability education, climate communication, human geography, cultural studies, environmental sociology and eco-psychology, as well as the broader public. A groundbreaking guide to caring for children who live outside binary gender boxes We are only beginning to understand gender. Is it inborn or learned? Can it be chosen—or even changed? Does it have to be one or the other? These questions may seem abstract—but for parents whose children live outside of gender “norms,” they are very real. No two children who bend the “rules” of gender do so in quite the same way. Felicia threw away her frilly dresses at age three. Sam hid his interest in dolls and “girl things” until high school—when he finally confided his desire to become Sammi. And seven-year-old Maggie, who sports a boys’ basketball uniform and a long blond braid, identifies as “a boy in the front, and a girl in the back.” But all gender-nonconforming children have one thing in common—they need support to thrive in a society that still subscribes to a binary system of gender. Dr. Diane Ehrensaft has worked with children like Felicia, Sam, and Maggie for over 30 years. In Gender Born, Gender Made, she offers parents, clinicians, and educators guidance on both the philosophical dilemmas and the practical, daily concerns of working with children who don’t fit a “typical” gender mold. She debunks outmoded approaches to gender nonconformity that may actually do children harm. And she offers a new framework for helping each child become his or her own unique, most gender-authentic person.

" THE CHRISTIAN'S POWER BASE [VOLUME 1]: KNOWING THE HOLY SPIRIT" is a book that introduces the Holy Spirit as the most important Gift of the Lord Jesus Christ to the world. Unfortunately, leaders of many denominations want their followers to know about the Holy Spirit, but not know Him personally, as the Enabler, the Comforter, and Helper (John 14: 26). The Lord refers to the Holy Spirit as the "Spirit of Truth", who will lead us into all truth (John 16:13). This emphasizes on the importance for every Christian to be acquainted with the Presence, and the Empowerment of the Holy Spirit in their lives to be able to fight victorious battles against the enemy - Satan - the unseen evil power and hater of truth. The book also teaches the real meaning of "Repentance" that pleases the Lord for the remission of our sins; and the reasons why millions of Christians are weak Spiritually, and fall victims to evil, wickedness, and many other vices that separate them from the Holy Spirit. Through such disconnect, millions become empty of the Holy Spirit, and are considered "living dead", because they exist by their procreated spirits alone. Reasons: because of our ignorance and unbelief (see Matthew 12:22-32; Matthew 12: 43-45). The Holy Spirit is therefore, presented to every Christian, but not to a "selected few" in the Universal Church of Christ, who call themselves "[anointed] men of God", and shut their followers from the knowledge of the Holy Spirit.[See Acts 2: 37 - 40].

Working And Poor written by Rebecca M. Blank and has been published by Russell Sage Foundation this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2007-01-09 with Business & Economics categories.

Over the last three decades, large-scale economic developments, such as technological change, the decline in unionization, and changing skill requirements, have exacted their biggest toll on low-wage workers. These workers often possess few marketable skills and few resources with which to support themselves during periods of economic transition. In Working and Poor, a distinguished group of economists and policy experts, headlined by editors Rebecca Blank, Sheldon Danziger, and Robert Schoeni, examine how economic and policy changes over the last twenty-five years have affected the well-being of low-wage workers and their families. Working and Poor examines every facet of the economic well-being of less-skilled workers, from employment and earnings opportunities to consumption behavior and social assistance policies. Rebecca Blank and Heidi Schierholz document the different trends in work and wages among less-skilled women and men. Between 1979 and 2003, labor force participation rose rapidly for these women, along with more modest increases in wages, while among the men both employment and wages fell. David Card and John DiNardo review the evidence on how technological changes have affected less-skilled workers and conclude that the effect has been smaller than many observers claim. Philip Levine examines the effectiveness of the Unemployment Insurance program during recessions. He finds that the program's eligibility rules, which deny benefits to workers who have not met minimum earnings requirements, exclude the very people who require help most and should be adjusted to provide for those with the highest need. On the other hand, Therese J. McGuire and David F. Merriman show that government help remains a valuable source of support during economic downturns. They find that during the most recent recession in 2001, when state budgets were stretched thin, legislatures resisted political pressure to cut spending for the poor. Working and Poor provides a valuable analysis of the role that public policy changes can play in improving the plight of the working poor. A comprehensive analysis of trends over the last twenty-five years, this book provides an invaluable reference for the public discussion of work and poverty in America. When trans people's passports, driver licenses, and national ID cards, do not reflect their gender identity, it can exclude them from fundamental aspects of daily life--like receiving health care, schooling, housing, or a bank account. And it can prevent trans people from exercising basic liberties like the right to vote or freedom of movement. The vast majority of trans people around the world cannot obtain official documents under their appropriate name and sex that match their gender identity. Where this is possible, trans people often face highly restrictive laws or regulations for changing name and sex that violate human rights obligations. These restrictions may involve excluding trans people who are married or have children, or require compulsory medical diagnoses or proceedures, including those that result in sterilization. License to Be Yourself documents some of the world's most progressive and rights-based laws and policies that enable trans people to change their gender identity on official documents. It shares strategies that activists have successfully used in a variety of global and legal contexts, and features case studies from Argentina, Australia, Hong Kong, Kenya, Ukraine, and the United States. This report is a resource for activists working on human rights issues for trans people, local communities examining best laws and policies, and policymakers seeking to uphold the rights of trans people.
