Rebounding Identities written by Dominique Arel and has been published by Woodrow Wilson Center Press this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2006 with Group identity categories.

An examination of post-Soviet society through ethnic, religious, and linguistic criteria, this volume turns what is typically anthropological subject matter into the basis of politics, sociology, and history. Ten chapters cover such diverse subjects as Ukrainian language revival, Tatar language revival, nationalist separatism and assimilation in Russia, religious pluralism in Russia and in Ukraine, mobilization against Chinese immigration, and even the politics of mapmaking. A few of these chapters are principally historical, connecting tsarist and Soviet constructions to today's systems and struggles. The introduction by Dominique Arel sets out the project in terms of new scholarly approaches to identity, and the conclusion by Blair A. Ruble draws out political and social implications that challenge citizens and policy makers. Rebounding Identities is based on a series of workshops held at the Kennan Institute in 2002 and 2003.

According to former NFL player, American Ninja Warrior and international speaker Anthony Trucks, cultivating identity is the most important tool for anyone seeking to achieve their dreams. In an era with more access to the lives of others than ever before, it’s easy to feel as if everyone else is more successful, in better shape, making more money and living their dreams. This daily barrage of “better-than-me” drives feelings of imposter syndrome, unworthiness and shame as many yearn for a clear sense of self and stability in a sea of comparison—especially when one’s internal identity is out of alignment with the life they want to live. Anthony Trucks’ Identity Shift gives motivated individuals the tools to make meaningful change where it counts: their identity. Anthony shares the secret to his success, framed with an honest examination of his own story and determination to move beyond his circumstances. He has seen how the ability to shift one’s identity is an innate ability that can be cultivated to unlock new levels of power, perspective, passion and productivity; and he believes this shift can occur within anyone, so long as they are ready to change their life.

Shifting Images Of Identity In The Pacific written by Toon van Meijl and has been published by BRILL this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2021-10-25 with Social Science categories.

This book examines how identities emerge, persist and change in various Pacific societies. The shifting images of identity are explored in pre-colonial, colonial as well as post-colonial circumstances. All the essays in this volume address both continuity and discontinuity in the construction of identities in the rapidly changing Pacific region. A region increasingly characterized by state-formation processes and global influences. The introduction provides a theoretical analysis of the changing paradigm in the study of identity over recent decades. This is exemplified with a comparative overview of the emergence of a constructivist approach of culture, tradition and identity in Pacific studies. Nine ethnographic contributions subsequently address the central question from a variety of different angles. Some chapters focus on classic topics such as migration and myth, while others deal with indigenous peoples in modern nation-states, tourism, economic development, global consumerism or electronic communication. The societies in question range from relatively isolated groups to communities living dispersed around the globe. Each chapter provides valuable insights into the processes of identity in the Pacific over time. An epilogue provides a comparative reading of the different theoretical solutions that have been proposed to make sense of the shifting images of identity in the contemporary, increasingly transnational Pacific.

This collection makes an important contribution to contemporary feminist and psychological debates on identities and racisms. It addresses issues of commonalities, differences, subjectivities and the contradictory nature of positionings which are central concerns for feminist and anti-racist politics. Leading feminists examine: the ways in which psychology has reproduced racism; the complexity of issues of identities and racisms which are shown to be multiple, constantly variable and renegotiable; the need to problematize and unpack `whiteness'; and the problems of identity politics both in terms of explanatory power and political action.

The 18 members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Council (APEC) encompass not only a wide geographic area but also broad differences in stages of economic development, including among them some of the fastest- growing economies in the world. Such rapid growth has been ficilitated by high levels of investment and trade, international linkages, and, in most APEC economies, macroeconomic policies that have sustained growth while not sparking excessive inflation. This study offers insights about how medium and long-term changes in real exchange rates have affected international (and intra-APEC) trade and investment in the region.

Identity And Social Change written by Joseph E. Davis and has been published by Transaction Publishers this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2011-12-31 with Social Science categories.

Identity and Social Change examines the thorny problem of modern identity. Trenchant critiques have come from identity politics, focusing on the construction of difference and the solidarity of minorities, and from academic deconstructions of modern subjectivity. This volume places identity in a broader sociological context of destabilizing and reintegrating forces. The contributors first explore identity in light of economic changes, consumerism, and globalization, then focus on the question of identity dissolution. Zygmunt Bauman examines the effects of consumerism and considers the constraints these place on the disadvantaged. Drawing together discourses of the body and globalization, David Harvey considers the growth of the wage labor system worldwide and its consequences for worker consciousness. Mike Featherstone outlines a rethinking of citizenship and identity formation in light of the realities of globalization and new information technologies. Part two opens with Robert Dunn’s examination of cultural commodification and the attenuation of social relations. He argues that the media and marketplace are part of a general destabilization of identity formation. Kenneth Gergen maintains that proliferating communications technologies undermine the traditional conceptions of self and community and suggest the need for a new base for building the moral society. In the final chapter, Harvie Ferguson argues that despite the contemporary infatuation with irony, the decline of the notion of the self as an inner depth effectively severs the long connection between irony and identity.

Introduction To Foundation Models written by Pin-Yu Chen and has been published by Springer Nature this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2025-06-12 with Computers categories.

This book offers an extensive exploration of foundation models, guiding readers through the essential concepts and advanced topics that define this rapidly evolving research area. Designed for those seeking to deepen their understanding and contribute to the development of safer and more trustworthy AI technologies, the book is divided into three parts providing the fundamentals, advanced topics in foundation modes, and safety and trust in foundation models: Part I introduces the core principles of foundation models and generative AI, presents the technical background of neural networks, delves into the learning and generalization of transformers, and finishes with the intricacies of transformers and in-context learning. Part II introduces automated visual prompting techniques, prompting LLMs with privacy, memory-efficient fine-tuning methods, and shows how LLMs can be reprogrammed for time-series machine learning tasks. It explores how LLMs can be reused for speech tasks, how synthetic datasets can be used to benchmark foundation models, and elucidates machine unlearning for foundation models. Part III provides a comprehensive evaluation of the trustworthiness of LLMs, introduces jailbreak attacks and defenses for LLMs, presents safety risks when find-tuning LLMs, introduces watermarking techniques for LLMs, presents robust detection of AI-generated text, elucidates backdoor risks in diffusion models, and presents red-teaming methods for diffusion models. Mathematical notations are clearly defined and explained throughout, making this book an invaluable resource for both newcomers and seasoned researchers in the field.
