Iglesia y revolución en Cuba es una novedosa investigación sobre las relaciones entre el poder temporal y el eclesiástico en la Isla. El hilo conductor es la vida de Enrique Pérez Serantes, sin duda el prelado más importante de la Iglesia cubana en el siglo XX, un hombre que denunció tanto la dictadura de Batista como el giro totalitario de la revolución y cuyas pastorales fueron analizadas personalmente por Eisenhower o Kennedy. El actual papel mediador de la Iglesia católica en el supuesto proceso de apertura del régimen añade más valor aún a esta obra, galardonada con el III Premio Internacional Ateneo Jovellanos. En su fallo, el jurado presidido por Gonzalo Anes, director de la Real Academia de la Historia, destacó «el extraordinario análisis realizado y la gran aportación de fuentes inéditas, así como la capacidad del autor para abordar con rigor un período histórico polémico y poco conocido».
