Se il disegno è "l'estensione della mente", rappresentare l'architettura equivale a mettere in scena lo spazio, reale o immaginato. Questo volume considera in parallelo gli ambiti fondamentali della rappresentazione architettonica, quelli del progetto e del rilievo, posti tra loro a confronto attraverso un itinerario di studio che ne indaga gli aspetti prevalenti, ripercorrendoli tra storia e contemporaneità. Il complesso ruolo affidato alla rappresentazione architettonica, oggi ampliato dalla realtà virtuale, si interpone tra il progetto e il rilievo. Tra l'idea che, attraverso le fasi configurative, diventa architettura e l'architettura costruita che, attraverso percorsi analitici, ritorna al disegno. Tra il progetto che conduce verso la costruzione e il rilievo che dall'esistente ritorna verso il progetto, muovendosi in tragitti spazio-temporali che indirizzano verso il futuro o ricalcano il passato, ripercorrendone a ritroso gli stadi formativi. L'ideale punto d'incontro di questo processo grafico creativo, il fulcro centrale del sistema, è costituito dal momento ideativo, da cui hanno inizio e si ricongiungono i complessi settori della rappresentazione. Le varie rappresentazioni, pertanto costituiscono il soggetto e il principale filo conduttore del testo che offre confronti e intersezioni tra le diverse possibili finalità del disegno architettonico. Caterina Palestini, architetto, dottore di ricerca, professore associato di Scienza della Rappresentazione presso la Facoltà di Architettura di Pescara. Ha condotto studi e ricerche nell'ambito del rilevamento e della rappresentazione dell'architettura con particolare riferimento all'analisi e alla documentazione dei Beni culturali. La sua attività scientifica, riguardante le diverse tematiche inerenti l'area del Disegno, è stata indagata biunivocamente negli aspetti riguardanti la rappresentazione per il progetto e per l'analisi del costruito. È autrice di numerosi saggi e articoli.
