Per farlo, l’uomo sguinzaglierà sulle loro tracce il suo migliore agente. I due studiosi, inoltre, si trovano a dover fare i conti con la sete di novità della buona società locale, con una certa diffidenza nei loro confronti e con tensioni etniche che covano sotto la cenere. Tra avventura, suspence e ironia, Kadare ci consegna un romanzo storico affascinante che porta il lettore nel cuore dell’Albania di inizio Novecento, con le sue speranze e le sue contraddizioni.
