Otto marzo 2005. Manfredi Dall’Orso, musicologo e studioso di linguaggi criptati, festeggia i cinquant’anni in un club privato, circondato da intellettuali e professionisti, ma nota la strana assenza di Davide Salimbeni, il suo migliore amico. La festa è funestata dalla morte di una giovane sconosciuta, che si rivelerà assassinata con un’iniezione di potassio al cuore: un omicidio presentato come morte per cause naturali. Inizia così la rocambolesca avventura del professor Manfredi Dall’Orso che si troverà, suo malgrado, ad indagare su una serie di omicidi che nascondono un segreto impenetrabile e custodito dalle security agency occidentali. Su di esso incombe una oscura profezia: «Tutto avrà inizio ad ottanta chilometri a Nord di Gerusalemme, nella parte occidentale della Piana di Esdraèlon, in quella che è conosciuta come la Valle di Meghiddo. Numerose furono le battaglie combattute in quel luogo ai tempi dell’Antico Testamento e là, ai piedi del monte che sovrasta la Valle, sarà combattuta l’ultima. In ebraico il Monte Meghiddo è detto Har Megiddon, ma noi lo conosciamo con un altro nome, terribile e profetico: Harmaghedon!» Massimo Carpegna – Docente di Formazione Corale, Direzione di Coro, Musica e Cinema presso il Conservatorio Vecchi Tonelli di Modena e Carpi. Ha composto numerose colonne sonore e inni sinfonici tra i quali si ricorda: The five Rings (sigla RAI per le Olimpiadi invernali Torino 2006), It's time to celebrate (Inno ufficiale Campionati del Mondo di sci nordico Bormio 2005), Honour and Glory (Inno ufficiale Federazione Italiana Sport Invernali), Vinci per noi (Inno ufficiale Modena Volley). In seguito al successo del concerto diretto al Teatro Luciano Pavarotti di Modena con l'Orchestra Sinfonica G. Verdi di Parma e la Corale Rossini di Modena eseguendo musiche del baronetto Karl Jenkins, nel 2015 è stato invitato alla Carnegie Hall di New York quale Maestro del Coro per la prima americana della cantata The healer, sempre di Karl Jenkins. L’anno successivo il direttore americano Jonathan Griffith lo ha invitato a comporre una cantata (Speculum Magiae) per il Lincoln Center di New York. Con sue composizioni e direzioni sono stati pubblicati 11 cd musicali, oltre a 6 libri. Attivo nella veste di conferenziere sull'opera lirica, collabora con varie istituzioni.

Long neglected in the history of Renaissance and early modern Europe, in recent years scholars have revised received understanding of the political and economic significance of the city of Naples and its rich artistic, musical and political culture. Its importance in the history of science, however, has remained relatively unknown. The Science of Naples provides the first dedicated study of Neapolitan scientific culture in the English language. Drawing on contributions from leading experts in the field, this volume presents a series of studies that demonstrate Neapolitans’ manifold contributions to European scientific culture in the early modern period and considers the importance of the city, its institutions and surrounding territories for the production of new knowledge. Individual chapters demonstrate the extent to which Neapolitan scholars and academies contributed to debates within the Republic of Letters that continued until deep into the nineteenth century. They also show how studies of Neapolitan natural disasters yielded unique insights that contributed to the development of fields such as medicine and earth sciences. Taken together, these studies resituate the city of Naples as an integral part of an increasingly globalised scientific culture, and present a rich and engaging portrait of the individuals who lived, worked and made scientific knowledge there.

Gesù era figlio di Giuseppe Flavio. Ma quest’ultimo era solo uno pseudonimo postumo del re Agrippa II che aveva concepito il suo unico figlio con la sorella Berenice di Cilicia. Tutti assieme questi importanti personaggi, che nel Nuovo Testamento sono nascosti in una miriade di nomi, decapitarono Giovanni Battista nell’anno 83. Per nascondere le loro malvage gesta anche negli scritti di Giuseppe Flavio fu operata una subdola duplicazione di fatti e personaggi. Le crociate e la lotta alle eresie furono due mezzi per venire in possesso o distruggere testimonianze scomode contro la Chiesa simoniaca. Ma per far questo furono elaborate altre leggende preziose per scoprire la verità sul Cristianesimo. In queste i maggiori protagonisti sono ancora Giovanni, la Maddalena e Giuseppe d’Arimatea. La ricerca sul Cristianesimo prosegue fino ad individuare i personaggi storici che componevano la famiglia di Giovanni Battista. In questo argomento vengono presentati i primi nomi in cui furono nascosti, che erano Marco Antonio Felice per il padre, e la regina Drusilla per la madre.
