Art Therapy written by Vincent Buchanan and has been published by this book supported file pdf, txt, epub, kindle and other format this book has been release on 2016 with Art therapy categories.

Art therapists have long theorised about the healing properties of visual expression through various media and have articulated the importance of media choices based on individual client needs for self-expression and healing. Art Therapy is a tool that can favor social, educational and cultural integration for disadvantaged children and minority communities. Artistic activities promote tolerance, dialogue, respect for diversity and interaction among others. The field of art therapy is based on a few basic assumptions that only recently have achieved some degree of research-based support. The first chapter of this book examines three assumptions that underlie the field of art therapy and their relations to art therapy theory and practice. The second chapter reviews the model of the Expressive Therapies Continuum (ETC), and illustrates its use in assessment and treatment planning with case examples. The following chapters introduce aesthetics as it informs art therapy intervention; present the concept of ritual and explores the possibility of creating spontaneous rituals as a central axis in art therapy, in drama therapy and in nature therapy in particular; explores art therapy programs for building peace territories in schools in Ecuador; provide a literature review relevant to the use of visual journaling with military veterans; studies art therapy for mobilising personal resources in the elderly; describes the Videoinsight® Method and it's applications in the psychotherapeutic setting, in distress prevention and in promoting well-being and early recovery during rehabilitation following surgery; and provides an overview of the application of LEGO® block creations as a medium for art therapy.

The perceived quality of a destination’s cultural offering has long been a significant factor in determining tourist choices of destination. More recently, the need to present touristic offerings that include cultural experiences and heritage has become widely recognised, that this aspect of the tourism experience is an important differentiator of destinations, as well as being amongst the most manageable. This has also led to an increase in the management of such experiences through special exhibitions, events and festivals, as well as through ensuring more routine and controlled access to heritage sites. Reflecting the increasing application of cultural heritage as a driver for tourism and development, this book provides for the first time a cohesive volume on the subject that is theoretically rich, practically applied and empirically grounded. Written by expert scholars and practitioners in the field, the book covers a broad range of theoretical perspectives of cultural heritage tourism; regeneration, policy, stakeholders, marketing, socio-economic development, impacts, sustainability, volunteering and ICT. It takes a broad view, integrating international examples of sites, monuments as well as intangible cultural heritage, motor vehicle heritage events and modern art museums. This significant book furthers knowledge of the theory and application of tourism within the context of cultural heritage and will be of interest to students, researchers and practitioners in a range of disciplines.

“An impressively accomplished retelling of the Gatsby story,” in which a Russian businessman engages an impoverished bookseller’s help pursuing a lover. (Los Angeles Review of Books) On a rainy afternoon in London’s old Chelsea, a charming multi-billionaire Russian oligarch, Gorsky, walks into an ailing bookshop and writes the first of several quarter-of-a-million pound checks. With that money, Gorsky has tasked Nikola, the store’s bored and brilliant clerk, with sourcing books for a massive personal library, which will be housed in the magnificent, palatial home Gorsky happens to be building immediately next to Nikola’s own modest dwelling. Gorsky needs a tasteful collection of Russian literature to woo a long-lost love―no matter that she happens to be married to an Englishman. His passion for her surpasses even his immeasurable wealth, and Nikola will be drawn into a world of opulence, greed, capitalism, sex, and beauty as he helps Gorsky pursue this doomed love. “An accomplished retelling of an American classic.” —Tablet “It’s a very clever idea: to update "The Great Gatsby” by making the bootlegger into a Russian arms-dealing billionaire and transplanting the action from Jazz Age New York to 21st-century London, a city increasingly shaped by global wealth.” —The New York Times Book Review “A tense, witty page-turner.” —The Spectator “Entertaining.” —New York Journal of Books “[A] kind of novel-length love letter to the written word.” —Jewish Book Council
