Affascinante come un romanzo, documentato come un saggio accademico, La felicità delle immagini, il peso delle parole non è né l’una né l’altra cosa: è piuttosto un’acuta ricognizione di territori cari all’autrice, che da sempre fa la spola tra il mondo della scrittura e quello dell’arte. Se gli anni trenta del secolo scorso sono stati tutto un fervore di scambi e relazioni tra questi mondi, già negli anni sessanta quella temperie veniva rievocata con una sorta di nostalgia da Pasolini, che pure insieme ai colleghi ha praticato la stessa dimensione di prossimità. Moravia che non smette mai di disegnare; Calvino che insinua che chi si esprime col pennello sia più felice di chi usa la penna; Volponi che del collezionismo di quadri fa quasi una malattia. Ne esce il ritratto di un tempo vivido e interessante, ricco di idee in perenne circolazione: perché il rapporto fra parola e immagine nei testi letterari mai come oggi è attuale e ricco di implicazioni.
